2019 Summer Window - Whom do we Need ? - Whom will we Sign?

You can't just look at one moment. An extra DM might have helped us keep a clean sheet at Spurs. Or see out the win. Who knows. But in the CL we never look like shutting out the opposition. We beat Monaco 5-3 and lost 3-1 away to go out. We lost 3-0 away to Liverpool and lost 2-1 at home. We lost 1-0 away at Spurs and won 4-3 at home. On paper we should not have been losing a two leg game against any of those teams.
I don't disagree that we should have won those games. But I'm not sure an extra DM would have helped. Lots of the goals conceded in these games were due to errors. Individual errors. Nothing can prevent or predict individual errors.

And in relation to the Spurs game, we actually lost control after we brought in a DM in Dihno. It was a common sense tactical decision to bring in a more defensive player to close out the game. Unfortunately it disrupted our possession, which got Spurs back into it.

What we need is to do better, that which we already do well. Possess, attack, create. Since repeat.

Do we think there's any truth in the Neymar rumours ? It makes sense that they would want to build around Mbappe but if he's going anywhere expect Neymar would either go to Barca or Madrid. I also doubt PSG would sell anyone to us given our respective ownership

Neymar is more important for PSG than Mbappé. Simply because, football reasons aside, Neymar is the one that brings sponsorship/marketing money.

I had explained PSG strategy to develop the brand and getting better sponsorship deals with "superstars signings" because they suffer from the league level and brand. Without Neymar, you don't get the Jordan collaboration, Nike doesn't give you 75+ M€, main sponsor doesn't give you 60+ M, etc.

In the future, maybe Mbappé will be able to draw as much money as Neymar but not now.

Yeah I wouldn't disagree. Clearly it is a mental issue with City players then. They clearly get phased by the CL and make more mistakes than usual. I don't think the sides we have played would punish us more than league sides so our standards must slip.

I think most of the ground felt as I did when Aguero scored - that it was too fucking early and we had time to concede again. I was confident we would get another chance to score, which we did but we all know the story! When Aguero scored I just knew we would lose some momentum. Ferny was possibly the wrong sub to make, which goes against my original comment completely!

In hindsight perhaps, personally, I'd have preferred Sane for Silva with Bernado moving Centrally. But eventually, I'd have brought Dihno in anyway. So I can't fault the decision.

It just wasn't our day. :(

Big question is ,why we keep doing huge individual mistakes 3 years in a row in one of the most improtant games of the season?

Potential outs this summer although I wouldn't expect them all to leave could mean a busy summer
Gundagon
Sane
Marhez
Danilo
Mendy
Otamendi
