Not a big fan of Dinho as CB, obviously a tough bastard, but still short. Really really hope the club make CB a priority, even more so than DM I'd say.Fernandinho to play both CDM and CB. Rodri first choice CDM after he get's used to PL football. Gundogan to play both as a 6 and 8 like he did this season
They'll be games when we're on the front foot 90% of the time where Fernandinho at CB will work fine. It's only the games where we're on the back foot in a physical tussle it'll come off poorly, like Old Trafford in 17/18.Not a big fan of Dinho as CB, obviously a tough bastard, but still short. Although saying that I'd rather not Fernandinho at CB if we could have an actual CB playing there.
Personally I reckon we will see more 3 at the back, particularly in games we should dominate.I am kind of curious how people see us playing with Rodri next season, I get that he is the successor to Dinho, but if Gundogan stays, how do we play all 3 in the DM position?
Do we go double pivot and go 3 at the back? or just go double pivot with a back 4? or push Gundogan higher, or assume he leaves?

I like Rodri. Like him a lot. But more because I think he ticks all the boxes Pep wants. He is by no means an exceptional talent. Felix (in my humble opinion) seem to be.
Had it be a choice btw De Jong and Felix, I probably would have leaned De Jong. As he both satisfies a 'need' DM and seems an exceptional talent.
Felix doesn't satisfy an immediate need, but he is an exceptional talent and will satisfy a future need. I'd even buy him and let him stay in Benfica for 1 more season before bringing him over next summer.
But that's just me :)

I see your point, but the whole idea us about gaining a possessional advantage. The general rule would be that we will be playing a 9 man block. So breaking them down is aided by having great ball handlers I. Positions that will have the most touches, CB and DM.Not a big fan of Dinho as CB, obviously a tough bastard, but still short. It seems Pep is just trying to add to our creative advantage against bus parking teams. Which would be about 90% if the teams we face.

The reason those 3 don't play as a 6 is quite simply they are needed more in attacking positions. Bernardo has been exceptional on the wing breaking down defences with this close ball control and link up play. He even has the ability to beat 2 men. David is needed to be the link to free up Sane or Sterling on the left. KDB's whipped in crosses from the right are unplayable. TBF they all drop deeper when needed, but we need them to create chances more.
Gundogan is a CM by trade. He's good at recycling possession. He can play as an 8, but more as a scorer getting in the box and not as much as a playmaker.
