I’d last two minutes before being shot voting over there today as I’m not able to keep my mouth shut, which may come as a shock...
It is a lot different than strolling down to your local library (polling station) to vote in our elections. A friendly chat with the people handing out your voting paper and crossing you off the list, then pop into the ramshackle but practical booth and mark a cross on the ballot with the pencil that is retained by a piece of string to avoid pilfering. Fold ballot in half and pop it into the box (mine is the modern fold out type) a cheery word with the party helpers on the door, then off to do a spot of shopping without fear of not returning home.

I have travelled extensively in the USA and it is a great place to visit with lovely hospitable people, but live there no bloody way. “The right to bear arms” should be removed from the constitution as it is completely outdated and all weapons should be confiscated. It will never happen of cause for a whole variety of reasons, so I will stick to the leafy suburbs of Manchester UK thank you very much.

I think Trump will win. Not a gambler but I’ve put a little bit of money on him winning. Going to be an interesting couple of days for sure. Feels like the US is heading for civil war, that’s if it hasn’t already started...

I’m off to bed, expecting a long day tomorrow.

Thanks to all on this thread and others for the support and the perspective over the last few years of Donald Trump’s reign.

May the people rise up as one tomorrow and repudiate his attempt to destroy the fabric of the country I love.

I’ll close with this:

Wish us common sense, sanity and luck. Good night.

Yes and if we don’t like the result we are going to shoot you, with one of the weapons stockpiled in the last few weeks.
I'm wondering who will start the shooting? It seems an initial trump victory is likely due to a lot of Biden's votes coming from the postal system. Even if Biden wins there will probably be a few days of trump 'victory' in which case I'm assuming it will be the reasonable voice of liberal America that starts the shooting and riots?

Are you not into politics either?

Well, Polling Day is upon us. Just under 3 hours until polls open in New York and 6 hours in LA.

First polls close at 11pm UK time (Indiana, Kentucky), and we should start to see the picture appear from around 0100. We should have a pretty good idea around 0600 which way the wind is blowing.

He may be up (or look it) in a few states for a few hours and attempt to claim victory but the majority of it will be resolved by Wednesday night (states time), so I can’t see any of the above.

It will be his militias and flag waving pick up drivers that lose their shit when it all starts slipping away. You seen many groups of Dems marching around with guns and threatening the other side?

No I don't see that and that is why I think we all assume it's the trump red-necks that will start the fire. All I'm saying is that unless it's an absolutely crushing Biden victory by Wednesday night there is likely to be an initial apparrent Trump one for however long it takes to get those postal votes counted. He will obviously spend that time declaring victory and trying to imply that postal votes are fraudulent. In that situation I just don't see his lot starting the fire - not for a few days at any rate.

It’s not fucking difficult to work out who will be doing the shooting.

I’m definitely no political expert but I get the feeling he will get in again...Not a popular opinion on here (I’m assuming) but paying $2.75 I thought it was good value for a bet
Well he’s got a 10% chance going into Election Day as opposed to 30% last time.

So I’d be needing 9/1 to lump money on him and feel it as value.

In 2016, 130m or thereabouts voted, the Dems received 4m fewer votes than 2012 due to voter apathy (ie these weren’t votes that flipped to Trump, it was 4m that simply didn’t bother voting).

They’re forecasting 150-160m votes cast this time round. That apathy is non-existent.

I can’t see it.

It seems a very one sided view on this topic? Is there no potential for left wingers to go "fuck it, we're not letting this slide this time" and meet fire with fire ?
I can’t see it. Biden’s not been fanning the flames and winding up his followers and stating that the opposition need locking up and praising his supporters attempts to intimidate the opposition. It’s all be one sided and thus yes, it’s one sided on here as well.
