The US is split right down the middle, nobody is getting out of this unscathed. If Trump manages to wangle a win which is unlikely the opposing side will kick off, if Biden wins which is likely the Trump side will kick off.

This has become a shitstorm of epic proportions, the world is watching America eat itself.

Bush v Gore back in 2000 was similarly close and it kicked off a bit, eventually it calms down.

Just had a quick read, are the Dems backing it?

I don't think they are officially backing it on the national level.

When it surfaces though, putting all those originalist idiots on the supreme court will backfire for the republicans. Kavanaugh will throw away his principles but Gorsuch has shown he'll stick to his (stupid) principle of originalism above party demands.

Everyday seems to be Christmas if you are a lawyer in the U.S - what does everybody do over there for recreation in between litigation?
I’m in the wrong job.

I bet there’s plenty out there that just turn up in a suit, talk bollocks and charge half an shit rag players wage a day for the privilege.

Are you aware of NaPoVoInterCo?
It’s an admirable effort. I do hope enough states pass it (Colorado just did this election, actually) and adoption holds long enough to go through several election cycles to prove concept to voters. And this is a much easier route than constitutional amendment. Though, that is likely going to be a challenge given the states that are remaining.

But there are permanence and constitutionality issues with it that could ultimately scupper it, even if enough states finally pass and enact NaPoVoInterCo.

That said, constitutional amendments are near impossible to realise now, so perhaps it is the best that can be done.

BBC had a legal person on just now saying that there is no legal recourse until 1 Dec, when the election is certified (not sure if this is national, or just for that state).

The thing today was so they could observe from 6 feet - I assume there is some provision if they argue about every vote to waste time.

Pen , vast majority of votes counted by the end of today , american time

Cant confirm one county not counting today

Legal action , he laughed, all votes will be counted, trump trying to intervene , two times the supreme court wouldnt take it up

Attorney general

Quick look at the states left to confirm. DT needs Nevada to get over the line, assuming he bags PA, NC & GA. Alaska is done. I'm interested only in how tight some of these are, after millions of votes there is less than 1% between Biden and the orange dude. Scenes!

I'm not sure SCOTUS will want to get involved with this. If there is a clear breach of state election law, the state court will be first to deal with it.
