Does Biden have to wait till mid Jan before he can take power? and if yes does that mean trump can stink the whitehouse out for another couple of months and still govern

I like Pennsyvania but can definitely understand shithole comment though. To give it some perspective - the two cities (Philly and Pittsburgh) are industrialized, blue-collar, working class cities. Both have relatively high levels of crime although they've really turned a corner.

The rest of the state is very rural or what was once coal country. We always called it "Pennsyltucky" and it was meant pretty derogatory. The American version of the office, for example, takes place in Scranton, Pennsyvlania (actually where Biden was born ironically) to add some context.

edit: oh! and driving through it is awful. I would not wish a trip on the PA turnpike on my greatest enemy

I stayed off the turnpike when I drove to Pittsburgh from Washington DC. Pittsburgh isn't that industrialised these days compared to what it used to be. It's very like Manchester in many ways, having come back strongly from post-industrial decline. Also very friendly people who love their sport.
 
Let's hope this Strongman leader thing has peaked.

Seriously - the margin of victory here has been a WARNING to those of us who like think our societies are better than that, that we learned our lessons a long time ago. A warning to anyone who would never vote for a demagogue.

The message: They aren't doing anything illegal. And people are just as succeptible now as they were back then. It's not a new development. Our elections are frequently closer than close as it is. Don't let the succeptible be targetted. Don't give them the balance of power. Never ignore a populist. The next time you see one anywhere near an election - VOTE, for godssakes. Vote in the worst way possible for them.

There's no law against 99% of their tricks. Votes are the only thing that can stop them.
