Yes. I only think they can maintain influence over the ‘hardline Trumpers’ as long as they can (legitimate or fictiously) “act on his behalf”, in the case of his slow incapacitation or incarceration.

But many of those hardliners will still exist after their leader is gone.

In fact, having studied what often happens with extremist political movements when their instigating authority is removed/dies, there is a part of me that worries more about what happens when Trump is no longer around and his (crime) family lose control.

That splintering is very dangerous.
