The stat's on accidental firearms related injuries would suggest not.

Only in the USA could there be a company called Aftermath - Specialists in Trauma Cleaning & Biohazard Removal.

I fear they may be very busy over the next months.

The longer Trump remains president, the more the clock runs down on the Statute of Limitation on his pending NY cases.

I think that's pretty much the top and bottom of it.
Fair enough but that doesn't answer my question.

What happens if he still refuses to leave?

Force? By who? When? Or just change the locks when he goes playing golf?

If this attempt to subvert the election gains any traction, then Trump could have an argument to remain in place until the situation is resolved. They could potentially tie this up in the SC for a significant length of time.

I don't agree with that. There is no doubt that there is a large and very visible and vocal pro-Trump camp, but what proportion of the 71m republican votes that represents, who knows. IMO a minority.

You’re welcome to your own opinion but I stand by my previous post. It’s a cult.

We know from Republican Polls that 80% of voters in republican primaries valued loyalty to Trump as the most important quality in a prospective Republican senate/house candidate.

I don't think that tells us anything tbh. Why? Because we don't know whether the interpretation is "loyalty to the leader of our party" ... which is fair enough, and I'd expect 80% to say that was important. Or "loyalty to Trump, irrespective of his position in the party".

Despite the fact that I'd love to watch that, I can't help but feel that would be the start of The American Civil War 2.0.
the ingredients are all in place , just needs a spark to kick it all off, an army of heavily- armed racist zealots led by a truly evil ruthless monster will take no prisoners. It could happen.......

I thought it had to go through the State's courts and isn't the Inauguration set for Jan 20th by law? What does the law say about the loser just refusing to leave?

It deosnt really matter. He stops being President wherever he decides to lay his hat.
I get that's what happens in law as of Jan 20th, but he will forever more have the title of President, and for him and his rabid/armed base he still will be.

I think we (non-Trumpers) underestimate how dangerous this situation is. On Newsnight last night they were speaking to his heavily armed supporters outside a counting centre, who were talking openly about Civil War if it's "stolen from him".

If he's still holding on by then, the shit will hit the fan. It might even happen before that.

My relief of the last few days is evaporating fast.

Maybe it's inevitable? They'll do it once every 150 odd years or so to get it out of their system, like the purge.

What's the end-game here for Trump?

If he continues to refuse to accept the result, what happens, and when?

Well the clock is ticking down toward the electoral collage vote on the 15th of dec (i think). So any legal issue or recounting has to be done by then. So far there is zero traction on anything specific to stop it. Bill Bar getting involved is however vary dangerous. The DoJ has traditionally stayed away, this step basically puts the US government machine into the mix to 'address voter fraud'. The worse case scenario is that Barr fabricates some evidence and they start prosecuting using the government machinery. The Government would give credibility to a case that a campaign does not have. At the same time its very dangerous territory for Barr and his mobsters - the elections are run by states and they have their procedures locked down within the state - so the DoJ can't just muscle in and 'find' some evidence and start a case.

Trump is basically throwing mud. Its for his PR and his base to eat up.

In the absence of evidence the court cases eventually strike out and the collage happens and Biden is declared the winner. From that point I suspect Trump will slunk of at some point and wont be seen at all from January onwards.

Oh, I agree it's a cult alright. I just don't think it's a cult which extends to having 71m members. Trump is the guy who lost the Republican's the election when a less divisive, dishonest and let's face it, downright shite of a leader, may well have won.
Would only need 36m to be a majority of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if 10% of Americans are infected by this ****.
