The USA is not coming out of this fiasco with any shred of dignity. The senior Republicans have let the democratic process down big time. Our system is far from perfect but In modern times I can not recall our political parties behaving so disgracefully.

The judicial branch is checking and balancing as planned. The “Fourth Branch” (the bureaucratic) has been somewhat more uneven but that’s really been due to the problems in the executive and isn’t there to check or balance anyway. It’s the breakdown of legislative (and executive) bipartisanship that’s gotten us to this point.

I think your post is pretty fair comment, but it’s equally fair to say that the judicial branch hadn’t been subject to an especially exacting test so far since 3rd November!

It’s true but they were never going to be because Biden’s win was comprehensive.

They were in 2000 though and the nation survived just fine.
 
The only question now is whether or not “shinkle” should be a noun or a verb. It describes perfectly the chickenshit cowardice of both his “abstention” and those previous posters who have gone into hiding since being proved utterly fucking wrong about Trump. Are they “shinkles” or did they “shinkle”? You decide.
