This lead to the looting of the capitol, congress barricaded inside while a mob chanted for the execution of the Vice President, a woman shot dead, a massive security breach as people accessed staff computers left behind in the evacuation and an explosive device being planted in the RNC headquarters.

These cops need to go to prison.

And a few of them took selfies with the insurrectionists and many then gingerly helped those same fascist terrorists down the Capitol steps back to their buses when they were removed.

Removed, not arrested. Not shot. Removed.

And there are indications that leaders of the “march” may have been given specific maps and markers for the places that they could enter the Capitol grounds (i.e. collaborators in the ranks of the Capitol Police would let them in).

It is a travesty and yet another in a long line of failures of American law enforcement.

Mussolini brought Fascism to Italy when he got his followers to make their "March on Rome." (He put out the myth that he led the marchers though in fact he went to Rome in a car.) Trump told his thugs today to march on the Capitol and that he'd be there with them, but this sad **** who is like Mussofuckinglini in so many ways was sat on his fat arse in the White House while his mindless morons did his bidding.
I think he's deleted it now, but this was quite funny:

Indeed it does. Anyone trying to argue that racism is not still alive and horrific in the US (*cough* several now conspicuously absent from this and the BLM thread *cough*) is laughably ignorant at best and intentionally malicious at worst. Either way, they’re actively perpetrating racism.
Well it's embarrassing to think you were on the right side of history only to realise you were an apologist for fascism all along. Like those people who defended Hitler right up until he started WW2, except with a permanent written record of all of their opinions.

I use a VPN to listen to MSNBC, and some of the ad's that pop up on BM for gun stuff just because the browser thinks I'm in the USA is unbelievable. Best one is the shelf that has a secret gun safe in the bottom of it that holds up to 3 pistols with extra magazine's.
Sound good, but not as good as this:

I think it’s embarrassing to think you were on the right side of history by defending Trump, full stop.

But that’s just me.

Trump is attempting to subvert democracy in plain sight, but you have doubts about Biden's ability to reduce homelessness and bring money to poor communities?

You know Trump genuinely doesn't give a f*ck about those people, right?

The only thing these communities have left in many cases is the right to vote, and the Republican law makers up and down the country tried to make it more difficult for them to do so, and Trump wanted to tear the whole f*cking institution down.
Holy shit...I did not expect so many responses. Trump is fucked, let me get that straight. Today has shown this more than ever. He cares only about himself.
My point was that people are so excited about Biden getting in but theyre set up for disappointment because the people who need help the most won’t get it. They never do. Both sides of politics have different policies but it ends up the same result if you are in a poor neighbourhood. Hence no need to be so violent, divisive and hateful cos youre only fucking yourself when you trash your own city. Both Biden and Trump will still sleep well at night no matter what suffering is going around them. Same shit, different administration...and the same discussions about being the best candidate for the poor will be had again in 4 years (all while hundreds of thousands still sleep on sidewalks across the country). Sad, scary but intriguing to watch this all unfold as a non American.
Peace, stay safe and please celebrate a derby win instead of getting annoyed by a random stranger on the internet.

So your argument is that no administration has ever solved any problem in society or improved the lives of anyone ever?

It’d be a lot easier not to get annoyed by a random stranger on the internet if a random stranger on the internet who has no grasp of America, Americans, the issues at hand, their complexity, any bonafides as an observer, who’s ignored the thread for the months it’s been in existence and who has literally not a single thoughtful thing to add didn’t insist on making stupid fucking comments about how “nothing will change” and “it’s all the same.”

I promise I’ll be a lot less annoyed if you say something useful, demonstrate some understanding, advance the discussion or get to fuck. Your choice.

Trump isn’t going to be President. By definition I can’t be disappointed by that, rendering the remainder of your post irrelevant.

Note: I can’t vouch 100 pct that this is right, but for those of you interested in the potential for fast application of the 25th Amendment to remove Trump, here’s a process flow chart. If the cabinet and VP have the will, the question is will the House and Senate agree in a 2/3rds majority, and within the remaining days before Inauguration? Importantly, though, it looks like if a majority of the cabinet and the VP agree, then the President IS stripped of his power until the Congressional process is resolved so technically if all breaks right Pence COULD serve the short remainder of the term without concern that Congress would hand powers back to the President by failing to approve the declaration of inability.

People are saying that impeachment would be better though because it bars him from holding office ever again. It would also seem to be the more suitable option. As I understand it, the 25th amendment is designed more to deal with a president who gets sick rather than one that is just a ****.

All that is true, but the 25th is more expedient if that chart is right and for now I think we are in emergency surgery mode.

Reading and seeing the Fox News reaction tonight, long term I don't see how American democracy survives much longer.

Tucker Carlson's position is that all this was justified because people don't *believe* the election was legitimate, and until they believe that it was that means that the election was, in fact, illegitimate. So now we're at the point where if someone doesn't like something they just have to say "I don't believe that' and it makes it so.

The wounds of the civil war never quite healed and they are descending back into conflict. On one side you have the enlightened who embrace democracy and tolerance; on the other you have the last bastions of white supremacy who still think they are fighting the wild frontier. The role of the media (Fox) and social media in the spread of dangerous and baseless conspiracy theories that have undermined US society needs to be examined because ultimately it could have implications for us all in the West. Free speech is a gift we take for granted but free speech is being undermined by those given a platform to spread lies and hate.
