2022 World Cup Discussion

If the BBC / ITV are so outraged by the Qatar regime why do they have to report everything from there. Why can't they stay back in the UK and report. They can also wear some sort of badge to support the LGBTQ+ community when they report, similar to the way Pep wore his yellow ribbon. And why is their no proper backlash to accommodation not being ready, bucket hats being confiscated, e-tickets not working, attendances being quoted as higher than actual capacity etc. It's a utter shit show and FIFA has to own it although we know they won't as it all about lining their pockets. So much wrong yet so little done about it.

Maybe ask How do the wales fans feel when watching an England game and hearing the constant pro England stuff especially the obligatory 1966 nonsense.
I believe Jenas was as bad yesterday. I was watching an overseas stream on my phone at work, with Andy Townsend on co commentary duties, so I can't comment on that. But the likes of Dublin, Tyler, Jenas etc have regularly been called out on here for their jingoistic views.

Clive Tyldsley has to be the worst of the worst. Barry Davies was particularly bad too. I don’t see why we need commentary, I know what I’m seeing and most of them offer zero insight whatsoever. Give me stadium noise only.

Davies was nowhere near as bad as Motson. And Tyldesley is pushed close by Pearce.
Id include Jimmy Hill but he wasn’t a prick. That Irish guy, Begley? Utter arsehole, Dipper Cult Member.

Think only commentators I’ve ever liked were the guys who did the Italian Fitba in the 90s. Wilkins was decent.

Beglin. Also, there's quite a few on here, of an older vintage, who would disagree with you on Hill. He once did a hatchet job on, IIRC, Brian Kidd (when he was playing for us) on MOTD.

Guy Mowbray, Steve Wilson and Simon Brotherton are all very good, the former probably the best, Alistair Mann is a good commentator and a Blue but gets very little exposure. As a kid growing up I used to really enjoy Gerald Sinstadt’s commentaries on the ITV local football from the day before that started just after the boozers closed at 2pm. We got one match then highlights from the games other regions showed as their recorded match.
