2022 World Cup Discussion

I can't stand commentators at the moment they are getting so bad!

Earlier today the Saudis were accused of using every trick in the book then when the reply came on the screen the commentator decides oh no they arnt after seeing the left back got a knee cap through his face. Then during the current match a Tunisian player shoots wide and then puts his hand on his head and the commentator says " I'm not sure it was that close" HE DID THAT REACTION BECAUSE OF HOW GOOD THE OPPORTUNITY WAS!
 
I have to be honest; last month I was absolutely "Meh" about this World Cup. A World Cup in November just felt wrong. And in Qatar???

But now I'm; "Wow Messi is past it. Cant believe Argentina lost. How many offsides? 4 penalties, in 5 games. Eleventy One minutes of added time. Ooo look its Denmark v Tunisia. On a Tuesday afternoon"

Think it helps that there have been some good quality group games, so far and the matches are on at a decent time. Usually, the group games are turgid and it doesn't open up until the knockout rounds.

I'm also trying not to mix politics with football and just enjoy the football, on display.

That's why I did it in a 14 year old Californian style. Apologies if you couldn't decipher that from the written word!

That's the rhetoric we'll start to see. We'll still get the soundbites about human rights but the Saudi's have just helped their fellow Arabic nation by making more of the talk about football. A few more results like that and the media will soon show they don't really care about the wider issues - they've said what they were told to.

I didn't watch the Wales game, but if the commentary was anything like the Euros, I'm glad about that. They moan about the England bias, but I've never seen any English pundit deliver the level of one-sided cheerleading that the Robbie Savage did last time out.

I always give Robbie Savage a pass because he seems to be the only commentator who wants City to win when we play in the CL.
