FIFA sanctioning cheating, surprised not!Puking here.
I am watching because the football on the pitch is nothing to do with the corruption surrounding the tournament. I’m sick of the prattling on about outside factors. Loads of the media have jumped on the PC bandwagon because in this woke society it’s deemed to be the right thing to do, Qatar is where most of those fuckers are. As others have said the media will suggest all is hunky dory when we go to North America in 4 years timeSo you aren't watching then?
Kev wasn’t great by any stretch of the imagination. Gavi looked good and I’d say that’s been pretty much it, maybe Valencia of Ecuador.Gavi. Not many of the big names. Apparently Kev ran the show, but I didn't watch it and scraping a 1-0 win against Canada isn't exactly great.
It’s probably still on iPlayer :-)Yes I agree. This is a very good idea. As a long established collector of opening ceremonies of major global sporting events as presented by national television broadcasters, I was particularly disappointed on this occasion. I have of course taken appropriate action on behalf of the many collectors such as myself, and sent a strongly worded letter to the lovely Ms Daheley (copy TD Davie). Enough is enough I say. Bring the boys back home.
It’s amazing how Lineker is revered and hated in equal measure. That wasn't what Lineker said. He said the BBC never shows the OC for the WC, so they were entirely consistent. Someone is telling porkies.
Edit: and the change in date was three months ago apparently.
Yes.Always like to watch opening ceremonies Olympics winter games etc as I like to see different cultures . Didn’t check I player as I didn’t think I needed to as terrestrial tv has always shown it . Was it already over when the coverage started at 3 pm ?
Wales v England in Tenerife ffs
Who cares? Exactly who is blowing all this out of proportion? And why is it important if anyone remembers them or not? It’s amazing how Lineker is revered and hated in equal measure.
The ceremony was on iPlayer (and probably still is), so if anyone was desperate to see it, it is still there.
This whole scenario is playing out because of preconceived hatred of the BBC and Lineker, not because people didn’t get to watch the opening ceremony.
Granted, it could have been avoided by Lineker simply apologising and saying that if you want to see the ceremony, it’s on the iPlayer, but it’s been blown out of all proportion.
The only time opening ceremonies have ever been mentioned at world cups is because they’re shite and they wished the football would start already.
Can anyone remember any other ceremony bar Diana Ross doing an impression of Marcus Rashford taking a penalty?
How dare the BBC show a women’s match when a ceremony was on.Who cares? Exactly who is blowing all this out of proportion? And why is it important if anyone remembers them or not?
I just wish people would tell the truth. Lineker should have said we didn't want to give coverage to the opening ceremony but you could have seen it online. Neville should say he abhors human rights violations, but just not enough to make a personal stand. These people, the BBC and others can have whatever points of view they want but they shouldn't try to justify their actions with nonsense.
A women's football match for Christ's sake.
