2022 World Cup Discussion

Politics aand religion should have absolutely nothing to do with sport or the people who want to enjoy it , countries should adapt so everyone is welcome , if they cannot do that , they should not hold prestigious competitions.
If you want infer i am a closet racist i suggest you tread very carefully.
Lol, I’ll tread very carefully mate

Not sure why you think I’m inferring you’re a racist, surely if my post was inferring anything, which it wasn’t btw, it’d be Islamophobia

So what you’re saying is that any country which holds a World Cup has to have western beliefs & laws?

Now put the boot on the other foot, what would you say if FIFA gave the WC to England to host on the proviso that we had to change our laws to that of Arabic countries for the period of the World Cup?

You don’t want politics & religion to be part of sport & yet you don’t believe Qatar should have the World Cup because of their politics & religion? Don’t you think that’s a tad hypocritical?

Did I tread carefully enough? ;)

Not only politics or religion though is it ? , everyone is not welcome in Qatar , i will let you work that one out

USA has a massive Hispanic population that love football. Japan have a decent domestic league. Both places filled stadiums with genuine fans. Qatar has zero football culture and when this is over it will go back to having zero football culture. Russia was a shit location but at least they like football.

There's about 500,000,000 arab people who are absolutely football mad and can't host a tournament because of security reasons or cost in their various countries.

We've seen Iran, Morrocco, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia all have excellent tournaments and massive support, it's clearly delivering them an opportunity they never usually get.

Besides, I think Qatar has football culture, it's just a tiny country. It's had a professional league for 50 years, before most of the money arrived.

Bollocks. Everyone is welcome, as long as they stick to the laws, which are heavily linked to the Muslim faith, so yes, it is politics & religion mate

If you wouldn’t want this country changing its laws for a football tournament, why should Qatar or any other country for that matter

So if you’re from Qatar, you don’t like football? Everyday is a school day eh?

Wold cup 94 was class for so many reasons. So many characters, great games etc final was shit but most are.

As I've said before. The 90s comps were fantastic and everything since has been shite.

I really enjoyed the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. England did stink out the place being the worst side there, but apart from that it was mostly a pretty good tournament

Shit final, but as you said, most are.

2010 was dire I thought. 2018 had some good games.

Hmmm I agree with the majority of your sentiment but I’ve been to a few games in the Qatar league and it’s worse than non league in terms of attendances. I used to go and watch Vladi play quite a lot as we were good mates for a couple of years.
