2022 World Cup Discussion

The World Cup draws to a close.

I thought that Brazil would lift the trophy - kudos to an extremely strong Moroccan side for knocking them out.

Now it's down to two of the pre-tourney favorites: Argentina and France.

I detest Mbappe, and it would be nice for Messi to lift the cup, so I'll be routing for Argentina.

Biggest surprises of the the tournament for me:
1) Morocco - they've looked fantastic throughout
2) US live commentary - far better than I expected it would be, but not without some serious faults
3) Venue quality - I thought that Qatar would be a complete disaster. Yet, pitches have been immaculate, on field temperature hasn't been a factor, and stadiums have been fully of enthusiastic, noisy fans. That said, one shouldn't overlook deplorable human rights violations ongoing in Qatar, nor the obvious corruption surrounding Qatari and the award of the World Cup.

Just to add to 3
- some of the atmosphere has been amazing (Argentina/Morocco) proves you don’t need alcohol to get a atmosphere
- also nice not to see scenes of crowds throwing chairs and hooligans everywhere in places during this WC, probably first time in recent WC history where there’s been no trouble in and outside the stadium

Yep, let’s stop the millions and millions who enjoy a drink without feeling the need to throw chairs from doing so in order to prevent the tiny minority of clowns who kick off.
I’d rather take my chances with the western worlds approach to laws cheers.

Same.
Just pointing out some atmospheres have been brilliant and it was nice to see a World Cup without crowd trouble and pissed up bellends chucking chairs at other fans

Indeed. Some of those atmospheres seemed a bit forced to me though.

Not so sure about that, to be honest. There's been empty seats at a lot of the games.

Assuming you meant "full", obviously!
