2022 World Cup Discussion

Yeah like you say we've had the weather even though I'm like Casper the ghost the sun don't like me. Been about doing all the grounds so you get to know the metro( only 3 lines red, green and gold) buses free also so Qatar so accessible and lovely.
Excellent

A 32 Club World Cup style tournament commencing in 2025 (not sure if that’s in winter or after the League’s have finished)? 48 teams at the next World Cup, every even year in March 4 teams from 4 continents will play each other in FRIENDLY matches. The September and October qualifying matches to be merged together, so mid August start then a three week break. Then the twat Infantino says “the health of the players is most important”.

11 billion income is predicted for the 26 World Cup of which 10b will go back to FIFA member countries, the other 1b for him and his cronies.

This becoming like Cricket whereby the players are playing purely to make money for UEFA and FIFA, players will return to their clubs absolutely knackered.

Blatter and Platini are paragons of virtue compared to the megalomaniac that is Infantino.
Why don't the players stand up for themselves ?

Infantino going off on one this morning, FIFA have replaced one **** with another.

Ruined domestic football all over Europe this season, does he think we all live for the World Cup?
I'm no fan of Super Leagues and such but when you see and hear the shite that emanates from both Uefa and FIFA you long for an alternative. Infantino is Blatter MkII.

Think he’s worse, and that pov would have been deemed impossible a few years ago.
He's a football administrator and like all administrators they have to feel they have 'accomplished' no matter the outcome. In terms of football he will no doubt quote the thousands who turned up in Qatar and rate it as 'the best WC ever', just as they do with the Olympic Games. Every OG is the best ever, as it serves to demonstrate that the choice was justified. He won't give a tuppenny fuck for those millions of fans who've had their season fucked over - two seasons in one! And as for this current World Cup as being the best ever I have been totally underwhelmed by much of the football, and have invariably tuned into summat else come half time.

There was one OG where the President of the IOC didn’t acknowledge as “best ever”, just can’t remember it. I’m the same as you, ended up switching channels.

Infantino is such a creepy fucker. He’s saying just watch Football without worrying about anything else going on in the world but apparently he didn’t want to know about Iranian Fans refused entry to a stadium because they had t shirts, “life - women - freedom”, those fans had balls something Infantino lacks, in spades.

Hopefully, a 48 team World Cup is more ludicrous than a winter World Cup.

It’s a 48 team World Cup in pretty much the same timescale as the previous seven World Cups of 32 teams.

Qatar will probably be last sole country to host the event as no single country is likely to have the infrastructure to host an expanded 48 team tournament on their own.

Depending on how they structure the 2026 tournament, here in Europe we can probably expect group games to be kicking off from 6.30 pm right through to 6 am the following morning.

It’ll be before midnight for games involving European teams, I’d very much doubt there will be kick off’s at 10pm Pacific time, more likely the latest kick off will be around 8pm Eastern time. 48 teams is ridiculous, the current option of 16 groups of 3 with the top two going through to the knock out round of 32 is open to corruption, they’re going to discuss if 12 groups of 4 is better as they think this World Cup showcased that. So after 2 weeks of football the top 2 and the 8 best third teams go through, dreary.

Sick of this International shite now, City could probably beat either Argentina or France, I just want proper football back.
