2022 World Cup Discussion

I wonder if any clubs are going to struggle with 6 weeks of no match day income ?

Club shop, catering, beer sales all zero. Lots of casual staff not getting any wages in the build up to Christmas and increase cost of living.

This could hit employees and some clubs hard
They’ve all just had an 18 month dummy run, so they’ll probably be alright.

This World Cup is going to be a disaster. You’ll miss half the issues in main stream media. Infantino‘s incoherent gaslighting was just the start. I’m looking forward to it all unraveling.

i wonder how long it will be before the fans kick off in that tented village or the fanzone on the beach

Fifa pay clubs a fee of $10000 per player per day until they leave at the tournament, we are set to get about $1300000 per day while all are there.

we made 3.6 million from last time in russia

most premier league clubs have a player or two at least so will be still making money, some have commited to make sure employees don't lose out too.

Agree with your comment. But it is also true that the UK press coverage of Qatar has been very unfair and distorted. For example still repeating the false Guardian story about 6,500 workers dying on the World Cup work. The figure is total deaths from all causes over a prolonged period. Migrant workers make up 80 per cent of the population of Qatar so the figure which includes heart disease and cancer is not as bad as painted.
That fact does need to be refuted agreed.

But it is not racist to point out that what is effectively a city of 3 million people should not be hosting a world Cup. They do not have the infrastructure, accommodation or frankly the geographical size to host a tournament of this size. If they had of spread it to Oman, Dubai Qatar etc much this criticism would disappear.

Qatar constant changing of the goalpost, hosting it in Summer but actually no we meant winter, fans can drink at parks near the stadium but no they can't. The initial images of the fan parks of this tournament looks grim, like a football version of the Fyre festival.

I am getting more and more pissed of with this WC even before it starts.

Its winter its November/December and I am missing my Christmas trip to the Etihad. I just got up to speed with the league, I always struggle with the start of the season ! I was still recovering from the villa game lol.

I am missing City already I am not abit interested in the WC. It's a bloody disgrace it's been allowed to fuck up our league season. I have the same feeling for this WC as I do internationals during the season. A bloody waste of time.

There is no way I can support a team with Maguire and Rashford in. It goes against everything I stand for !

I dont even know when the WC starts or England first game
Took the words out of my mouth.

It’s as obvious as a cock on a nun that this is a corrupt World Cup. Qatar bought and paid for it in FIFA bribes. For both parties to claim to be surprised at criticism is Mystifying. The screams of racism were the obvious first response. Every World Cup and Olympics host country faces scrutiny and criticism from those with agenda, justified or not. This one is open season. Even if you ignore and dispute the migrant deaths, the country’s climate is unsuitable, it isn’t spread over the region, there are cultural differences they’re not prepared to accommodate, it has the opposite effect of what Qatar wants.

Then add in that it messes with domestic football. Sorry, I’ve always preferred club football over international. But as a football fan, of course I’ll watch a summer international tournament, biannually. This World Cup is a complete clusterfuck. I’m not sure how much kudos the winners of The Mitsubishi Air Conditioning Unit World Cup will get?

9 English men & A German in the welsh team.

I don't get how a team of English men can play against England at a World Cup.

Because they're not good enough for England. So it's either find a long long long lost Welsh/Scottish granddad somewhere or never play international football.

Originally up until last month we were told we needed the Etheraz app as we would have to do a covid test prior to entering Qatar, however the said test and proof of negativity was dropped so no need for Etheraz app. The Hayaa card is mandatory and without it you aren't allowed in the country. It's only obtainable by having your accommodation verified and basically acts as a visa although it also allows all public transport for free when shown while you are here. It also has to be shown on entry to matches along with the match ticket.
Cheers for replying.

I hope you uninstall the app asap when you leave… but by then…

Have Mesopotamia, Egypt, India and Peru apologised yet?
If Mr Infantile survives yesterdays diatribe, it only confirms what a grubby organisation FIFA is. But they all keep schtum and stay on the gravy train.
