Dunno why people are moaning about no beer in stadiums given we couldn't get any in chumps league games for years.

It was never going to be available inside stadiums mate. This is about the sale of beer at points just outside each stadium for fans with tickets. That was originally going to be allowed until this ruling, so if you want a pint now then you'll have to travel miles away from the ground by the looks of things.

Although I'm not going, the thing that annoys me most about this is that alcohol is still available in the corporate hospitality areas. It's just another kick in the bollocks for the average fan.

You can't buy alcohol in Qatar outside of hotel bars and the fanzones, it's not like you can pop to the offy and fill a hip flask full of vodka.

I go to football for a whole lot of reasons, none of them anything to do with having an “enjoyable, respectful and pleasant experience for all fans”. I’m sorry, but home fans and away fans know the deal: is this a library? You’re fucking shit, you’re fucking shit… Where were you when you were shit? You’re gonna win fuck all… Respectful and pleasant it ain’t, and enjoyable usually only, but not exclusively so, when you win.

But FIFA want the fan experience to look like this:



Shiny happy people. Middle class people. Can hop on a plane at a moment’s notice, and will wave happily when on camera, even when losing. Will not abuse referees. Will spend lots of money on stuff above and beyond the cost of admission.

They do have off licences so there are ways and means. Plus the airport duty free that people will no doubt stock up on as they arrive. Same as here in the UAE.
