It’s the fact that everyone is saying how poorly they’re paid when they’re actually economic migrants, being paid more than they would in their home countries. Which is why they’re there.

If your brain, to which extent you have one, has to go through mental gymnastics to follow why the two are connected then you’re really not worth talking to.

I mean the cost of living in Qatar is quadruple that of in Bangladesh but other than that, how generous. Makes you wonder why they ever bothered confiscating their passports.

The cost of living is more expensive in Qatar if you’re a westerner going to Spinneys for sure.

The markets near the housing of blue collar workers are very cheap. Plus all their meals and board is included.

The confiscation of passports has been illegal for ten years btw.

Every day in the malls, the foreign exchange shops are full of workers sending money back home.

Doubt migrant workers will be concerned about cost of living, they will be living on camps with mess halls etc.

It’s something that’s always ignored when they talk about the $10-15 a day pay, the fact the the two largest living expenses for anyone (food and board) are also covered.

This doesn’t in any way mean that I think Qatar is a great place or that I remotely like their authoritarian regime. I’m just trying to provide balance and perspective to what is generally a one sided and myopic discussion.

What an absolute load of shit. Virtue signalling at it's finest. Either boycott the tournament and don't go or just get on with it. For me there is no middle ground. If you choose to go for whatever reasons you are condoning it. Same with the media journalists and so called pundits. Don't stay in comfy hotels where slaves died whilst building them and sit in football stadiums where slaves died building them and then complain about slaves being killed whilst building them. Absolute fucking total hypocrisy.

Agreed. They should have never turned up if they have such an issue about it. Pretty simple, Your unhappy and don't go OR Go and get on with it and play football. To still be at this stage and continously talk about it is embarrassing.

Fed up of the whole lot of it to be honest, It's a bit like Corrie and Eastenders ect fucking drama.
