I was not suggesting it was Rhod only that it sounded remarkably like him. I was unaware that he had been diagnosed with cancer and my best wishes go out to him.

Ochoa plays out of his skin for Mexico because the second they're knocked out he goes back in the cryogenic freeze chamber for another 4 years and he doesn't know which family members will still be there next time he wakes up.

Bit unfair, he had 2 decent chances, one that he tunred on in the box that was stopped on the line and another where he got on the end of a cross right at the end, rose really well and put his header back across goal but just couldn't get enough power on it to beat the keeper.

Even saw him back at left back at one point trying to win the ball back. Given the situation & how long he had thought he did alright and probably did his chances of starting the next game no harm i reckon

Yeah untold on our accommodation, more of them than Argies but loads of South Americans. Got off bus hour ago at Khalifa where Germany play japan and on journey this mexican and wife got on with a big fuck off sombrero with a replica world cup on top. Nice fella and I said his hat could share my seat whi h he was happy a out. The TV will pick him out with that on,

They were chasing the game, all he had to do in that situation was stay in the box and cause mayhem, DiMaria got a lot of balls into the box, sadly they never got any players into the box to attack them.

I love Alvarez and his attitude but I do wonder if he wastes too much energy chasing down the ball.
 
We Westerners complain about other countries attitudes, rules and customs, maybe it's us that should look in the mirror, our society's are the ones in trouble.

Look at the good old US of A today, another mass shooting, another story of carnage.

The west have been socially engineered to death, virtue signalling has replaced religion as a way to control the population. I don't believe there is a typical westerner anymore we're more of a confused mass of people waiting for the next person to invent a cult for us to follow.
 
Rambling thoughts on the WC from a USA fan.

I'm enjoying the WC so far. England-Iran and France-Australia were fun to watch. And Argentina-Saudi Arabia was a good watch and hugely unexpected.

Rules/Officiating:

I like the offside technology; I don't like, however, that the offside decision isn't communicated to officials much more quickly. If there's an offside, it should be called immediately after the current sequence of play ends. In some cases, this isn't happening.

I don't like the numerous substitutions allowed. Leave it at 3 with free substitutions in case of concussion.

I'm not sure how I feel about the added time rules. It seems that added time is excessive. However, I suppose that the time added now accurately reflects on-field conditions; further, it serves as a brake against intentional time wasting.

I like that officials are enforcing holding rules in the box for free kicks/corners. It's been pretty consistent except that the obvious holding against McGuire/Stones in the Iran game wasn't called (supposedly this was brought up in an officials meeting as a mistake in rules enforcement and since then all holds in the box are being called).

US Announcers:

The USA game announcing from Fox is OK to good, mostly - a big surprise. In past world cups where US didn't simply relay English feeds, announcing has been godawful. This time though - it's been at least tolerable.

John Strong and Stu Holden seem to be the lead team - it's OK. I think that Strong has a tendency to over-dramatize developing plays near the goal, tending to shout and over-emote unnecessarily.

JP Dellacamera and Cobi Jones are the second team. I dislike JP - as he just can't shut up. Constant banter - and JP is basically Captain Obvious personified for much of his commentary.

Derek Rae and Aly Wagner are the best broadcast team by far and are very enjoyable.

Ian Darke and Landon Donovan are OK - they don't distract from the game at all.

Jacqui Oatley and Warren Barton are enjoyable. They've developed a weird chemistry which I quite like. And their commentary doesn't interfere with my enjoyment of the game.

Couple of disappointing performances from the top sides. Interested to see how Portugal fare, I think they're a sneaky dark horse if they can put the fake Ronaldo drama aside
 
I think the world cup has been great so far. Two huge upsets. England doing well. I think this is the hardest year to call a winner that I can remember. France look great, but teams rarely win it back to back.
 
is englands win the best result so far in this world cup ? i know there has been a couple of shocks, but for a stand out score england's 6.2 looks a very good game
