2022 World Cup Discussion

Couple of disappointing performances from the top sides. Interested to see how Portugal fare, I think they're a sneaky dark horse if they can put the fake Ronaldo drama aside
I know we've got players in their squad but the thought of those cunts Pepe, rat face & Ronaldo winning the World Cup gives me the shits.
Hope they lose every game

We Westerners complain about other countries attitudes, rules and customs, maybe it's us that should look in the mirror, our society's are the ones in trouble.

Look at the good old US of A today, another mass shooting, another story of carnage.
And if it had been up to the Tories only, the same sex marriage act wouldn’t have been passed in 2013, with 136 voting against it.
Our Home Secretary calls migrants ‘invaders’, we have the largest wealth inequality of any ‘developed country’ other than the States.
And, of course, it was illegal to be gay last time the World Cup was held in England, although that was changed the following year (although not in Wales or Scotland for another 10 years after that).

What a marvelous world cup so far. A dream. Reminds me of Woodstock with fan villages. Fuck you BBC. Fuck you Sky.

Yep. I don't mind discussions around the comparison of social issues between the UK and WC hosts, but it should be done at every WC then. Not just Qatar. And it should be done by HR analysts and geopolitical experts, not Lineker and Alex fucking Scott. I barely listen to them about football, so why they think anyone should listen to them about social and human rights issues is anyone's guess.

And Lineker's "feeling uncomfortable" about not addressing human rights and international law in Russia is very convenient, as is his assertion that the difference this time is that the bidding was corrupt ..... Is he serious?

Just shut up and talk crap about the football as usual, please.

Great from Phil. The little rat on the other end can fuck off though.

Oh, this is so sad. Nadia Nadim's mother hit by a truck and passed away at the age of 57 while the former City Women's player was on pundit duty for ITV. Condolences to her and others affected.

Fucking hell! I saw she'd stepped away but just presumed she felt ill.

Jesus, that is heartbreaking. I remember her being on in the pre-match coverage, I didn't watch the post match so I hadn't noticed she'd gone.

She spoke really well before the game about the Danish feeling towards human rights.

Awful way to lose another parent after the way she lost her father as well.

I think the world cup has been great so far. Two huge upsets. England doing well. I think this is the hardest year to call a winner that I can remember. France look great, but teams rarely win it back to back.

‘rarely’ = only been done twice, Italy 34/38 & Brazil 58/62. Agree, no reason France couldn’t be the 3rd.

This World Cup has had one of the best group stages so far. Besides upsets, even most of the drawn games (Morocco-Croatia) have been entertaining. Hoping that Ronaldo puts his issues behind him and emerges as a Champion. Would love to hear Messi and United fans cry.
