2022 World Cup Discussion

France, England and Spain the most impressive so far.

Germany, Belgium, Holland and Argentina the most disappointing. One or two of them will most likely get their act together throughout the tournament though.

Iran, Costa Rica and Qatar the worst so far and hard to see them getting even a point.

Been a few duff matches but, on the whole, it's been quite enjoyable.

Yeah, there’s been 16 games played

2 big shocks in those, a few other good competitive games and a few walkovers.

You have to expect a few dull games out of 16, it’s the nature of the sport but all in all we’ve already had some good games and really good moments/shocks.
1 big shock. Germany have been shit for a fair while.

It’s hardly as if the Irish haven’t poached some of our players.

3/4 of their 1994 squad were English.

what's with all this added time in every game, will it be carried on when the league resumes after xmas

No. PL have already said they won't be having extended stoppage time.
Fans of 19 PL clubs are annoyed at missing more football, a high percentage of fans of the other PL team are happy they'll miss less after their early departures.

You can see what the win means to the Iranian players. Massive outflow of emotions. They have put themselves, their families, and their friends in danger by denouncing their government very publicly at the tournament and for many of them this may very well be their last ever international tournament (and perhaps last period of anything resembling normalcy).

This meant everything to them. Some are still lying on the ground sobbing.

It’s pure humanity.

On a very serious note people in our country moralise about rights in Qatar, today our country has maintained the right to kill babies with downs syndrome up until birth.

fetuses.

And if you want to play moral top trumps UK vs Iran I'm confident despite our many flaws, we'll win.

If that is what you believe.

God bless you.

You drunk ?

I never mentioned Iran.

Well I certainly wouldn't be drun in either of those countries.

It's not a question of believing they're fetuses or not, it's a fact.

And you're right, sorry I assumed you were talking about Iran because of the Wales game. Howver the point would apply to Iran, Qatar, any other theocracry that you choose.

The important thing is do you agree with that judgement ?
It is foetuses , but the spelling is not important.
If you want to call them foetuses , fine the issue is that downs syndrome foetuses can can be aborted up until birth, it is a disgrace.

To be fair, it’s maintained the right for parents who feel they would be unable to cope with the demands that might place upon them and in no way mandatory. Also, given screening techniques available, highly unlikely that it would occur beyond 24 weeks but, on the odd occasion it might, better that than going down the ’DIY’ route.

Anyway, serious as the discussion could be, it’s not really for this thread.

Point taken.

The DIY route confused me, but I certainly won't mention it on bluemoon again.

My brother sent me this:

Done 5 games in 5 days. each stadium is packed with supporters for all countries as everyone is in 1city doha and can get tickets each day like we have.

It’s not like a usual World Cup where fans are spread out all around a country, and so you only see opposition fans.
the metro is superb all free and takes you to each stadium’s ( which are superb ) and again packed with all nations
Bars are busy with happy hrs around £7.50 a pint to £12 at night
Ok you can’t have a half time pint, that’s the only negative I can think off

The Cornice and souk are huge party zones

Yet bbc concerns is will Harry wear a rainbow arm band

This is the best World Cup I have been to from meeting other fans and not being scared of being robbed ( Brazil) murdered ( South Africa) or kicked in ( Germany)

Doha really is a football fans festival
