2022 World Cup Discussion

Really enjoyed this years World Cup. Thought it had some great games and drama. Some upsets and only a small amount of dross. The final was immense.

Congratulations Argentina I’m happy for pablo and Sergio well done to Julian Alvarez as well! World Cup winners medal will look great against a league champion one ;-)
Alvarez, Bustos, Zuculini, Aguero, Tevez, Zaba, Nico, Caballero, Demichelis. Congratulations lads :)

... and so is confirmation bias.

Probably a combination of both, and relief that it didn't turn out as badly as many had thought likely.
Yeah, my dad last night was saying how well organised it was. I said, "I can think of at' least 2 games where it kicked off in half empty stadiums because they couldn't get all the fans in on time."

Iconic photo denied because the host nation wanted to hijack the celebrations.

He should have tossed that bathrobe in the bin 5 seconds after he got it.
Literally everyone in the world at that moment was like. Wtf is Infantino doing, get your grubby hands of him. Like a final reminder that FIFA is corrupt and the WC should not have been there.

... and some people are still going to defend this crazyness with our kids watching.

Made me laugh. Made my kid laugh too. Explained it was crude and all.

He'll possibly repeat it in school today. And will learn he shouldn't. Such is life. As long as the lesson isn't how easy it is to blame someone else.

I've really enjoyed this world cup. It's been different and I think that has made it really enjoyable. The football has been good, the final was a cracker and we haven't got the 6 week wait for the season to start back up.

I'd have it mid season again 100%, the players wouldn't be exhausted after a long season plus I think there has been a high intensity to the games.

Of course the flip side is come the end of the season the players could be fatigued but I can't see that being an issue as they've kind of had a break in going to the world cup plus they'll get a little break on return.

But I think it has been a real success and you can only applaud Qatar for it.

The journey is nearly over, sat now at Hamed Airport, Doha, Qatar and genuinely a little sad it has come to an end. As someone who spent the whole month here did 17 games and attended all 8 stadiums I can honestly say you won't see anything like it ever again. The close proximity of the stadiums meaning more than one game could be attended in a day. Organisation top notch, people too and my digs for last 17 nights £35 a night. At least I can get back to the two loves of my life City and my boy ( in no particular order) ha ha.

Glad you had a great time mate. Think your posts have been really informative of what the actual fan experience has been. Safe journey back.

it was an average world cup, with some average football really, but with a small selection of outstanding games (not necessarily for quality).
