2024 - a tough year or a good one?

My health has taken another turn for the worst , immense pain , living on ten plus different meds. Been told nothing more can be done for my pain condition and so life is hard 24/7, dont want a long life , cant do this many more years

Merlin had two teeth out after a few months in pain , i took him to the vet twice, teeth checked every time but none of them spotted the problem , they wanted to charge me a ton of money to sedate him to get a better look but i said can you just hold him properly and he will let you do it , anyhow two teeth and nearly £800 later ! Dont get me started on pet insurers , twats

He is like a diferent cat , even lets me pick him up and cuddle him , first time in four years so that is nice for both of us

I dont believe in saying next year will be better , there is no reset , nothing magical happens on the first of jan !

On balance, more wobbles both than usual, but still proceeding down the channel steadily.

One of my (three) best friends died unexpectedly. I was the last person he had dinner with. Donald Trump won the election. I didn't get to go on holiday. My key work associate (with a serious drinking problem -- not even caused by working for me!) quit and I've spent all year catching up. Didn't get enough exercise or play much golf.

But . . . settled my last kid in college, so far happily. Able to negotiate a nice pay increase at work. Leasing a new car I like. Planning for my future retirement going well. And my wife, who'd been under the weather for a while, is much better and settling into empty nest life.

So with family generally happy and healthy, that's a win.

And you had the last remaining song in the cup for the 2nd year running!

Thank you lovely , have had fibro since i was thirty , i am really tired now and it has delivered me the final punch in the guts and got really unbearable . Sigh

Just to add--- my lad set off from Prague 30/10 and we haven't won a match since.

You’re dead right - nothing in anyone’s life really changes between 31 December one year and 1 January the next !! Definitely no reset.
So sad to read your first paragraph - & hoping very much that things get better for you. Sometimes unexpected things can happen.

This is where social media is good-- keeping in touch with people who are part of a like minded community (City fans in this case, obviously) and knowing that people do care.
