2024 Grand National 13th April

Just have to accept the fact that many people put more importance on their own enjoyment than they do on the welfare of animals.

They're unlikely to admit this of course.
I am confused now is it acceptable to enjoy something that has been part of my life for more that 60 years? Please advise me.

Of course it is. Nothing to do with me and I can't recall saying that people shouldn't enjoy NH racing or the National in particular.

Just saying that if those who enjoy NH racing were honest they would admit that their enjoyment of horse racing is more important to them than the welfare of the horses.

Fair enough, their choice. Not for me though.

It is not NH racing per se, for me it is the occasion and the history of the event. It is the history and the occasion where the "housewifes" can have a once a year flutter.
Seems to me that this is being stripped away.

I always pick four that I think have a chance, especially to be placed, so my hopefuls are........

Panda Boy
Stattler
Foxy Jacks
Galia Des Liteaux

Out of those, I suppose I'd give my best chance to Panda Boy.

Two more killed at Aintree today. Not to worry, I'm sure they made their owners a packet.
Sadly that is correct, but as somebody pointed out, many owners don't actually make money over the course of the season. If they can cover their costs, then that would be an achievement. Anything else would be a bonus.

To win the Grand National would be a big payday, but although all the owners want to win, the primary thought is for their horse to have a good run and come back safe and sound.

Racing fans don't get any pleasure out of fatality, but it appears to me that those anti the sport do. Searching social media for reports and then gleefully posting the usual diatribe to farcically support their overly emotional view of the sport.

The view that horses shouldn't be used for human pleasure is a utopian folly............no use, no horse.

How is it being stripped away? Its actually happening as we speak.

The occasion is being weponised in order to suggest that anyone who takes an interest in the race is somehow agreeing with cruelty to horses.

Been listening to 5 live as I'm in work, also watched beeb this morning. No such weaponising. Not even a mention of horse cruelty. A couple of posters including me ain't changing shit and horse racing ain't going anywhere.

Relax you can fully enjoy Ronnie Corbett working a horse to death for many a year yet. :-)
