In the unlikely event that I live for another 40 years, the chances of me understanding what an ineligible receiver reporting as eligible means, are about zero.
Meanwhile Da Bears are somehow Kings of the NFC North...don't think anyone had them as the dark horses at the beginning of the season.

Only certain players can advance beyond the line of scrimmage and receive the ball. Generally these are wide receivers, running backs and tight-ends, and they're known as eligible receivers. Anyone else is ineligible and they have to wear certain numbers so the officials can easily see who's eligible and who isn't. Our D is much better than our O. Thought Sanders managed the game pretty well for a first start. Read he was first starter in decades to get a win for the Browns. He deserves some credit although he wouldn’t have been the first if they all suited up against the Raiders first game!!Not really. One INT and one TD (the throw went zero yards but Sampson ran the 66) when well protected by the OL. Take that Sampson play away, and he had about 140 yards and a completion rate of about 50%. It is a copy cat league. Opponents will start working on his weaknesses now they have some film on him wearing a Browns jersey. He will face much better defenses in the coming weeks.
Not to rub it in but the Raiders were really bad. About as bad a team I have watched in the NFL in the last 5 years. I feel for the Raiders fans. I read somewhere that the pressure rate on Geno was 43% despite an average time to throw of 2.65 seconds lol
I think your management did the right thing binning off Chip Kelly. He has only had success at college level and been bad in the NFL. You will hopefully see some improvement in the next few weeks.

If they were all allowed to be eligible, why bother having a rule that some of them are ineligible to start with, unless they say otherwise? However an ineligible player can tell the officials that he's going to be an eligible receiver for a specific play, which is known as reporting as eligible. In that case an eligible player must report as ineligible to ensure they stay within the rules.

I found out a bizarre rule last night. Usually the clock stops when a player goes out of bounds with the ball but it didn't on one occasion in the game I watched. Apparently if the player goes out of bounds backwards, the clock continues. It only stops if they go out of bounds forward.Ah, well this is the bit that I've never heard a commentator ( or a referee ) mention. An eligible receiver being illegible. Only the other way round. If the defense plays like they did yesterday we’d still be in for a playoff shout. They were better than our offence for a large part of the game. If we had Burrow we’d have won that game. Flacco was just not in a position to play with his injuries.Burrow expected to play vs Ravens on Thursday……they just need the defense to show up as well now!
