2025 Community Shield | Crystal Palace v Liverpool

Mostly agree.

As for "gonna miss those full backs" - did you mispost? Robertson is still in their side.

Ah really? I thought he was off?

Shows how much I know. I didn't watch them yesterday either as it was the middle of the night here.

Well that puts to bed the accusations I receive on here about being a dipper

The Liverpool v. Palace match was really fun to watch. I eventually found it on ESPN+ in the USA - if you can find it within you budget - and are interested - that match was very fun to watch.

Much as I’d like to get excited about this result, it means fuck all.

The real business starts next weekend.

In the broader perspective of the season to come, you're right of course. But Slot and his players will have really wanted to win that match yesterday, make no mistake. (I don't even take into consideration the feral stoats who pass for fans of that club — they consider that anyone having the temerity to beat them has committed a « crime de lèse-majesté »). Just as we very much wanted to win that Community Shield in 2012. However, the season turned out pretty o.k. …

Genuinely pleased to see Palace win. Football is a lot better when we don't just have the same 4 or 5 teams winning everything.

You make your debut the first time you play for your club you dullard.
Mate no one counts pre season friendlies and you know fine they dont. Plus players tend to hold back and not put as much effort in. Thats one reason why non competitive game performances aren't usually counted. If friendlies are so official, then why arent goals, stats and records etc counted in their careers, bar internationals? Friendlies arent acknowledged in club football. Besides all of that, the point was he was clearly referring to his competitive debut for the club.
