20MPH Speed Limit - Wales

This happened to us yesterday on the A1 near the M62. It would help if, when placing the lane blocking sign out they put one up saying ‘merge in turn’. They ’zip’ in NZ and they do it automatically.

I love doing the old slingshot move round roundabouts when taking the first exit.

So long suckers!

On a related note IMO driving education needs a massive overhaul. IAM courses and the Police use the Roadcraft manual which includes a lot of techniques that should be learned by more drivers.

It’s far too easy to pass a driving test.

A lot of the congestion near us is people not using all lanes available at junctions then merging after the junction.

You can get done for the slingshot. According to official guidance from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), "misusing lanes to gain advantage over other drivers" is an example of "careless or inconsiderate driving" under Section 3 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.

I’d argue that causing miles of congestion due to not using filter lanes properly is a bigger misuse of lanes.

I was in North Wales last week. Every time I drove it felt like I was in a funeral procession. Locals hate it. Most people driving at around 25 in the 20. I’m sure they will get used to it but it is actually quite difficult to drive at 20mph when you aren’t used to it.
On several occasions I was overtaken by cars obviously unaware of the new law. On one occasion I was beeped at.
A slap on the wrist for a few months then they’ll start raking the money in!!
As previous posters have said it’s sensible in high risk areas (schools etc)
I’ll be interested to see what happens in Wales in the coming months.
Yesterday I did a 200 mile round trip along the coast rd to St Davids, 40 of which was behind a police car....it's one A road but acts like a B road and it was tedius. Granted he's doing his job and has to be seen but the van right behind him had clealry had enough after about 20 miles, pulled over and joined the queue behind me ??. There is no escaping on that rd, every village down to 20 and the old folks in front of you make sure you do. Took me 3 hrs, normally takes me 2hrs 30

Exactly you are passing a test not learning to drive, I’ve done an adavanced course and using all the road you can see more etc.
