Gets a free pass from me for now. Hell of a lot for the young lad to deal with this year, but he showed glimpses of what he could potentially be about earlier in the season with his performances in the group stages of the champions league, a seemingly natural link up with Phil for one of the goals he scored, and the hat trick for Spain against Germany. He has every right to be cut a lot more slack than a lot of people are giving him, and there's no need to be demanding of him because we aren't reliant on him and if you want to mention money he cost fuck all. Give the lad time and see where he's at in a year or two. I've seen glimpses of class from him at times so far but I get it, he hasn't done enough lately or even on the whole, but I think people need to look at the bigger picture and be very patient with him. Chelsea and Leeds were frustrating games and people are taking that frustration out on him a bit because we would no doubt get more from mahrez or foden in those games, but give the kid a break

What is Sane lacking that Torres has? The former is the much better player. There’s no 2 ways about it
Attitude, effort, willingness to do dirty work.

Believe me, I wish Sané had applied himself in the way Pep wanted, but he simply didn’t, and didn’t seem to want to.

Nonsense , Sterlings having a poor season and still way outperforming Torres , not to mention sterlings previous three seasons where he’s been one of our best players helping us win shed loads of trophy’s .
Even today Sterling wasn’t great , still popped up with a goal and should have been awarded a penalty.
Torres well I can remember one significant affect he had on the game today .
Sterling even if he’s playing poor , try’s to make things happen .
Torres hides or is just plain invisible.
Sterlings way ahead of him currently .
Call me back in 6-7 yrs, when Torres is Sterling’s age and has his experience.

BTW, do you think Sterling gets into the Spain team?

No, me either.

Tell me again when Torres is 6-7 yrs older & more experienced…like Sterling!

Torres hasn’t been able to play his own game much in this team yet, but he has already shown more spark in and around the box than Sterling, is technically more proficient and loses the ball less.

I think you missed the quote from Pep after the Palace game that that had been the first time he saw Torres fit for the PL. This late in the season and against a very bad team. It’s not promising
He said he saw he had grown into a man in that game. I think he was being complimentary and expressing how he is developing. Let’s not forget, he just showed up and is a kid away from home.

We’ll see where he is in 12-24 months, and then we will both see if his promise pays off.

Not a player we can yet rely on in the big games, let's see what next season brings when he is more settled and that bit more developed.

Early season looked special but has faded badly but incredibly difficulty with the covid situation for any young guy coming to live in a new country/culture and not be able to go back home to see love ones/family.

In saying that, next season he has to step up big time, otherwise he won't be required.
