Though besides his goals up until last night, I wasn’t far wrong and neither were others. He didn’t influence matches in the way you’d want a player in the starting 11 to.

Not a matter of being right or wrong,the problem is those jumping to conclusions in his first, difficult season. When years of experience should be telling us not to.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ferran's goals per minutes ratio this season was not far off Sergio's goals per minutes ratio since the start of last season.
 
I think we saw Sane show real glimpses of what was to come the following season towards the end of 16/17. Same with Bernardo at the tail end of the Centurion campaign. I think this could be a breakthrough performance for Ferran's confidence. He can feel like he belongs now. Can't wait to see him kick on next season.
 
Certainly looks better in the middle. I personally don’t think his work rate is good enough when he plays out wide which sometimes leaves us exposed on the break. A promising game last night though. Very clinical finishing. An interesting option to have on the bench in the final.
 
Great player who simply is not at his best out on the right in our system.

Do we have issues with finding some of our players best positions? Seems a recurring theme.

Or do players have issues with fitting in at first but then find their feet?

99% of players we buy have never played under what Pep demands and it takes time. The biggest compliment you can give the lad is that he is scoring goals despite being on the outside for most of the season, that is the sign of a good player.

Hes scoring in the CL, hat tricks in the prem and he has been here barely 12mths.

I reckon hes going to have a great euros and come back and really stake his place in the team.
