Agreed. Also a bit of a leap to suggest Palmer (no senior goals) is currently a better bet in front of goal than someone who plundered a hat-trick against Germany earlier this season
Its disingenuous to suggest someone else would have scored as often times its the players knack that gets them in to those positions to even have an opportunity. It may be that Palmer or Delap could have scored but would they have been in that position to have the opportunity?
Torres has shown he has the knack of being in the right place.

I agree. Difficult though, isn't it, when you look at the quality required to get into this side. I thought he looked great — sharp, frisky, skilled — when he first arrived.

I still see those qualities in bits but consistent game will help sharpen his skills. Well, he’s a talent. I’m sure he’ll show more next season.

A new club, a new country. Covid.
This kid needs next season to establish himself in Peps team(s).

But hey to be chewin on a Premier League medal at the end of that kind of season for him, must make him feel blessed.

Bet Sir Marcus would sell his .... erm right MBE for that kind of glory

It's a bit frustrating that any perceived negative comment gets jumped on here. There is a real issue with players coming in to the first team and being so out of practice that they struggle to make a positive contribution.

Torres, Aguero, KdB, Ake could all have benefited from playing reserve team games but they are not a thing any more. They could play for the EDS as overage players but that would stymie the progress of the EDS lads and disrupt their challenge to win the EDS league.

My point about EDS players in the 18/19 year age group playing well and possibly challenging Torres for a first team squad place is, I think, valid. Delap, for instance, seems to have outgrown EDS football and will want to see some sort of pathway towards establishing himself as a professional. Both him and Palmer have been scoring for fun for the EDS recently

I want Torres to succeed and acknowledge that he has had real challenges with moving countries during a pandemic and recovering from COVID-19. I think starting him in a front line with Aguero and Mahrez against West Ham in a team without the energy/pace offered by Bernado/Foden/Sterling did not do him any favours.

Torres just needs time to settle.

Hopefully when the title is wrapped up Torres will get a few starts , he's 20 years old and a few games , goals and assists will give his confidence a boost ,he is playing the safe ball all the time at the moment when he needs to take his man on , when he does he glides past fullbacks like they are'nt there. Has the makings of a great winger and needs time.

He's young, he's moved to a new country in the middle of a pandemic, he's getting games here and there with no real consistency, new language, he's now learning to NOT be direct as pep wants build up so he's completely relearning his game, he's chipping on with goals and assists, yes he's having bad games but he's LEARNING! he's been bought for the future, not for the present. As a fan base we need to cut him some slack - look at stones, cancelo, rodri etc and the difference a year makes. The kid is going to be a star, give him a chance.
