Looking at some of his play for Spain I really cannot see why people have been trying to make him a defender. Maybe an attacking wing-back but it seems obvious his talents are on the offensive side
We have no influence on where he plays.
Its up to Pep to spot that.

Maybe a loan to Girona would be a good idea? They are back in La Liga and having a star of the national under 21 side would probably be something that would be welcomed.
He would certainly get more minutes there than he would at City.

Yep because other Girona loan deals have worked wonders for us. Play him in his natural position or sanction an outright sale.

cfg owns half of the club, we got to give them something i guess. castellanos did very well for them, including a poker vs real and now i think hes being sold to other club

Good point. I think Gomez would get minutes for Girona because he is a high profile Spanish U21 player and his value would be likely to increase if he had a decent season on loan. Selling him now would probably involve a loss on what we paid last Summer.

He has had an odd career so far for a player who seems to be a respected youth international.

Barcelona B, Dortmund, Huseca on loan, then Anderlecht where VK converted him to a left back then City.

He is from Barcelona so would feel at home at Girona.

He has come out and said that he wants to stay at City but I think he would probably get less games this coming season than he did last season with Pep's new preference for "proper" defenders.

We literally need an extra RW or LW. Just give him a chance there. He thrives there for Spain.

Like you say, his best position is an area of need in the team, and he could give us an interesting option further up the pitch.

He’s never a defender, that much is clear, but with Ake and Gvardiol we don’t need him to be - and his stint defending should give him a better understanding of that side of his game.

He always looked decent going forward, so I’d love to see him get a chance to show what he’s best at.

Whether Pep will view it the same way remains to be seen!

Pep slowly but surely started giving him time in advanced positions later on in the season. He even came on for Jack in one match. Kompany is the one who tried him as a LB. We don't know what Pep will decide for him going forward. The kid does have attacking skills, no doubt about that...

This. We are a little light on for options in these two positions. Any time he plays I feel it should be left or right side of the attackers. He’s not a defender. But he does have something about him. His numbers for Spain U21 are impressive.

A quiet night but scored a goal just now. Well taken tool. 3 in the tournament now. Abel Ruiz who made the assist has had a really good game.
