Not for me. I wish him well and obviously want him to do well and prove me wrong but nah I don't see it.

Plus with the arrival of Gvardiol limits his game time even more.

Guess we'll see :)
He is not a left-back, though. Literally mad to play him there. All of his best attributes are offensive. It's like playing Haaland at CB.

I wonder if the alleged loan move for Palmer is to get him more minutes in the Premier League with Gomez taking up Palmers minutes, he's definitely a better forward than defender. Palmer has the higher ceiling for me, but neither have hit the heights they can do imo.

These stats went up today by some margin.
Once upon a time, Sergio Gomez was considered one of the best young players of his generation. There must have been a reason. I would give him a chance as Jack's understudy on the left or on the right if we lose Bernie or Riyad.

He has always been a wide attacking player, and he will always be a wide attacking player.......this attempt to turn him into a left back has been ludicrous, although he has somehow arrived at the best club in the world as a result!

Great to see him showing why he was so highly rated as a kid,and enjoying his football again

The only competition Grealish had for his place last season was when Phil occasionally played on the left but if he's going to be used in midfield from now on then maybe Gomez will get those minutes instead. It would be a great story if he stays and is a revelation as a left winger next season after being written off by most of us.

If it came down to keeping either Gomez or Palmer, then I am 100% behind retaining Palmer. He is simply a better player than Gomez. It’s also still possible that Mahrez and or Bernie might still go, which would strengthen the case for retaining Cole.

Agree, and isn't it strange how we criticise too much football, but in both Palmer and Gomez's situation, this tournament may just be the key to unlocking their confidence and provide a launchpad for next season.
