Even in his short cameo last time he played, I remember thinking that he looked much lighter on his feet. With the serious injuries he's had, it's very possible it's taken two years to get over them mentally and physically. I know it's only one game, but he's still relatively young. Great game from him tonight. Happy for him.

Didn’t have a lot to do defensively but was very good. Let’s hope he can continue this. I’d love nothing more than Mendy to come good and stay good but it’s a good start

Played well today, brilliant finish for the goal. Unfortunately, injuries have screwed him, real shame he should have been the best offensive LB in the world.

I just hope for our and his sake this is the turn around. He played well today and took his goal brilliantly with his right. It’s been too long but he can still come good and challenge Zinchenko for the LB spot.

Absolutely delighted for him. Solid game generally but took his goal like a top class striker from the move backwards into space to the inch perfect finish.
