Just shooting off at a tangent here; 13 years ago today, the ADUG takeover was formally completed, after the required period of due diligence was observed from when the takeover was announced on sept 1st.
My 18th birthday that day and yes big 50 today. Couldn’t believe what we were seeing. Big gangs of lads in town after. Walked into a City boys pub near Victoria by mistake thank god then Bolton got off a train at Victoria and kicked off after playing Wolves. Got on the train back to Radcliffe and full of blues and me and my mate filled the carriage up with our rum and black currant puke. What a day.iconic day, iconic kit. 1, 2, 123, 1234, 5-1!!!!
Early cross, chance at the far post, Hinchcliffe....that's just marvellous stuffThat 5th goal brings a lump to the throat every time.
Jesus what happened to those 32 years, I was a young man of 24 stood on the Kippax with Colin and Tino, what a fucking day.
when Hughes scored everyone was shitting their pants this was another Bournemouth fuck up but Oldfield and Hinchcliffe sealed the deal with half an hour to go.
Yeah. Wasn't the rumour at the time that O'Neill got those tickets directly from someone in a senior admin role at City.I went to away game on a coach from Stockport the week before. I can't remember who it was against but someone mentioned Brentford in an earlier post. There was a few days holidays to use up from work so I booked time off for the match.
Anyway a lad on our coach said there would be trouble, he'd heard the Rags had got hold of 200 seats, not sure where from. So I wasn't surprised when it kicked off.

Immortal words from Clive Tyldesley
Yes, it is a bit small-time. I’d be surprised if the Rags have a 5-0 thread over on Red Issue celebrating the anniversary of that 1994 game.Great memories for many, but are we not being a bit small-time to keep going on about this one-off game that changed nothing for us that season?
NopeThe following game we played Plymouth midweek at Maine Road in the Cup and scored six, no?
There was a bit more to it than that mate. They were like City of about 2009: they’d just spent more money than any other club ever had trying to build a title winning team. The press was full of how expensive their team was.Yes, it is a bit small-time. I’d be surprised if the Rags have a 5-0 thread over on Red Issue celebrating the anniversary of that 1994 game.
In 1989 United were shit and were NOWHERE NEAR the club they were looked upon to be in the decades after. United were an average club through the 70s and 80s who won the odd Cup and weren’t even the last Manchester club to win the league title. Both of us finished in the bottom half that season, in 13th and 14th level on 48 points. It’s like Wolves beating Palace 5-1 now. The rest of the league probably didn’t even look twice.
But it was a derby and for us on the day in the weeks after it was fucking mint!
I think your getting mixed up with the 10 1Nope
Yes 87 not 89.Nope
Yep, it was answered yesterday.Nope
By a fucking smart-arse, know-all!Yep, it was answered yesterday.

A real whiff of superiority about them?
Don't you just hate those sort...
