True. But right now he is making a goal causing error per game. When does is confidence get permanently crushed at this rate?
Too late it already is and that of the whole team.

Does Pep have to put his principles away and just change things i=until we get that confidence back?

Go defensive and stop coinciding soft goals?

Put Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias and Manu Akanji in our defence next to him and we look rock solid. It only happened once in months, against Forrest, and we won 3-0. Our only win in months. He looks bad because our defence is shocking at the moment. He was our best player earlier in the season.

Josko was not rock solid even in that Forest game. His pass and defending was off mark at times. But his attacking was very good.

Passing should be his strength but I am still baffling about why he ignores his wide man so much. Almost never willing to pass down to the winger quickly enough no matter it is Grealish or Doku on the touchline. He eyes up a pass into the middle more often and when he could not find the pass he reluctantly passes to the winger who is often closed down already. Whenever Ake Ruben or Akanji moves to this area their ball find the wide men quicker and sharper. The passes into the middle, sometimes good but more often not good and often lead to opposition counter.

Oh I am now missing Laporte and Zinny. At this rate I would say no to loan Laporte back for half of a season. Will the Saudi accept a swap deal with Walker? Just asking...

Laporte was treated poorly, no way he's coming back

He wasn't he was done, his knee was badly damaged in the title run in when he played on in incredible pain, he never recovered and hence why his only option was Saudi, the club let him leave for a very reasonable fee so he could collect big wages.
He would have stayed or got a move to a top club if his knee was OK. Him playing on through that title run in is one of the main reasons City won the league.

Thats because he doesnt make part of the back 3 in that situation.

He becomes the fullback who attacks.

The moment he is part of the back 3 you notice the problems as he will face big physical players and you limit his attacking assets.

As a defender he will always be a headless chicken.
But he has much quality in the opponent box.
I prefer a CB as CB though.
(As much as I prefer a keeper as keeper, not a passer.)

Just seen their winner. It goes through his legs! Haha. Goodness me. Laughable, that.

Was it him who let the ball come over the top too?

that was an incredibly simply goal line clearance and not being able to clear it is nothing short of embarrassing
Well what do you expect ? embarassing defending is what we do now on a regular basis, you can expect it from anyone too, we're a meme now.

Here in the US, the announcers said “there is not an awful lot Gvardiol can do there, he’s off balance.” I know we don’t know anything about football, but I think it was Lee Dixon. Truly, I don’t know how Dias and Nunes aren’t getting some slack here. They’re further ahead and basically stop and ball watch.

I think his passive defensive awareness doesn't suit Pep's high-line tactics. He would do better in a more traditional or static defensive setup under other managers, but sadly, he's not a good fit for Pep's style, which requires more proactive defending.

Well he's been doing that for the past month and a half, either he's lost all confidence or he isn't the defender we all thought he was, I'm hoping it's just a confidence issue, at least he has an eye for goal which of course means he has to play every single game since every fucker on this team except Haaland can't hit a barn door.
