Nah, Akanji has had a terrible season. Dias not great by any means but still better than Akanji. Both need to be better next season.

Akanji had our pre-January window midfield in front of him, Rico at right back most of the time, his CB partners changing every game due to injuries, while playing through injury himself the whole time. I'm more inclined to give him a pass than Dias who's been poor by his standards for over a year.

Dias is benefitting from Gvardiol at center back, Nunes at right back and more solid midfields.

Josko can’t be taken out of center half playing like this. Makes me wonder if pep would consider playing a back 3 next season (Josko, Ruben, Khus). Lets us get more men up the pitch so it’s easier to attack teams playing in a low block against us.

In 17/18 before Mendy got injured we looked great, it allowed us to play two Strikers , which we could replicate with Haaland and Marmoush

At left back he always seemed a bit timid defensively but brilliant going forward. Since going to CB he’s suddenly a machine who bullies strikers.

Reads the game fantastically well there too.

But who would you play at right wing back, assuming that we buy Cambiasso at Juventus and play him on the left? Would Nunes be good enough to do a job there?

Frimpong. My only concern from what I’ve seen (not much) is that he’s not that strong of a defender. He plays at wing back at leverkusen as far as I’m aware. It’s a no-brainer IMO.

I’m assuming the club and Pep are smart enough to recognise we need two full backs this summer

We have guys that can play as a defensive full back so we need two attacking wing backs

Cambiaso and Frimpong would be ideal

Its almost like most of the players to play this system are already here:

Akanji and Reis - to backup Dias Khusanov and Gvardiol

I like O'Reilly to start over Cambiaso. Just a better fit. Cambiaso can be his backup . Nunes can back up Frimpong or vice versa.

Rodri and Gonzo may be too much of each other's id probably rather supped up version of Kovacic next to Rodri/ Gonzo. Wirtz?

The front line is packed:

Foden and Marmoush backed up by: Savio, Doku, Bobb, Mcatee, and Echeveri. (That's a lot for 2 positions)

Then Haaland up top.
