24 | Joško Gvardiol - 2025/26

How on earth did he come out the game as the player with the better chances... And he came on after half time.
He had more chances after 17 minutes on the pitch than any other player.
Almost scored with that back flick that just hit the wrong side of the post.
He was like a whirling dervish and really seemed to enjoy that role.

Anyone think that he could do the DM role? Would be great at having a crack from distance when the ball drops for him.
He'd be reasonably adept at it because he's a brilliant footballer but it wouldnt suit him. He'd have to be positionally disciplined in that role, if he was going to play anywhere advanced of the defence, we would see the best version of him in a position he can move around in. I don't think he should be, cb or fullback should be his position but i suspect an 8 role would suit him best were he to be played further forward.

It’s genuinely beyond belief how he’s gone and got injured there. Unreal, just impossible. If it had been a proper 50/50 scrap across the pitch you'd take it, but after two minutes of absolute nonsense by their corner flag and all that mess, James just hoofs it into orbit – total non-danger to our goal – and next thing you know? Gvardiol is down. FFS

I completely missed what happened to him as did seemingly half the crowd judging by all the questions as to what happened. Looked like he was seriously struggling to get off the pitch though which has me worried.

Also, why the fuck do we no longer use stretchers? I guarantee he'll be in a protective boot and crutches right now even if its just precautionary so why are the same precautions not taken in getting him off the pitch? Didn't the Dippers have this issue with Isak trying to walk off with a broken leg? Get the bloody stretcher on if there's the slightest bit of concern even if he ends up being fine and runs it off on the sidelines

I find it odd too. Why take the risk.

Recalling max alleyne instead of singing a CB makes me think this injury could be weeks instead of months. Hope so anyway .

Big blow.

Let's hope we are still within 6 pts off the top when the injury crisis is over and the AFCON guys are back.

Not selling John Stones and Ake was a blunder; both of them are unreliable and made of glass. Akanji had the best injury record of the three and was sold before them.

from my seat in 3rd tier east stand it took him ages to go down the tunnel, was hopping on one leg at one point.
