Pep gambled with line up and lost and he carries some of the can but the players should take responsibilty as well. They are adults ffs and thety should be self motivated.
Yeah he gambled and not for the first time it backfired, this has happened repeatedly in the CL, and of course the players were motivated they were simply beaten by the tactically better team.

Each Champions' league exit was mixed in with individual player error

Preceded by Pep playing a weird lineup.
A Sterling miss away from taking Lyon to extra time. Sterling's disallowed goal vs Spurs. A few dodgy refereeing decisions in the games vs Liverpool. That isn't down to Pep

All games had baffling decisions by Pep.

Liverpool playing Gundogan wide right in the first leg.
Spurs putting KDB on the bench in the first leg.
Lyon playing Eric Garcia in the central defence.
Chelsea not playing either Rodri or Fernandinho when at least one played in the previous 59 games.

You ask 100 fans and 100 professionals to pick the team before each of those games and every single one would have got it wrong.

Thats not down to the players, it’s down to Pep.

Pep didn't miss that chance vs Lyon. Pep played no part in that Cup semi final defeat containing both defensive midfielders.

Yes it wasn't all Pep's fault but he was to blame as well, in all of those ties he played a weird formation that we didn't try before and we always started terribly and had to chase the game, tonight was no different.

So any manager could win what we have under Pep then as it seems that Pep makes no difference to any team selection as it’s all down to the players? Can’t have it both ways.

Its a two way street

So if Pep picks John Stones ahead of Eric Garcia against Lyon, Sterling may not have needed that chance to take it to extra time.

The players do the business when they step over the white line but the manager has to give them the right tools to perform and in all 4 defeats, he hasn’t done. That’s on Pep.

Play your best XI which includes Fernandinho and no one will say anything about Pep after a defeat.
