25 | Gianluigi Donnarumma - 2025/26

We pay the big bucks for the second half and just have to put up with that first half.

This. Our gameplan doesn’t revolve around our goalkeeper being mustard with the ball at his feet anymore - we need somebody there to make saves when it comes to crunch time.

Obviously he’ll get the ball during the game and needs to distribute it but the way some people go on, you’d think that if he can’t make a pass then our whole tactics fall down. They don’t. He’s there as a get out clause for centre halves if they can’t pass to; the other centre half, Rodri, the full backs or the wingers. Same for Trafford when he plays. And it was the same with Ederson for the past 2/3 seasons because teams stopped pressing.

If he wasn’t making saves then it’d be an issue. But he is and he’s making important ones at that. He was also good on crosses and corners yesterday I thought. When he had the chance to get there, he did.

And personally, I’d like to see the same energy given to praising him for the quick distribution that set up the winning goal as I’m seeing for the mistake in the first half.

The way he recovered from his own mistake shows why he's our number one keeper.

Trafford is a good lad and a very good keeper, but he's not at the level of our number one.

Experience is why, people who say play Trafford yeah he is a very good goalie but he hasn’t had that amount of experience yes he was excellent in the games he has played but we only know the first two games of the season when he did make a mistake it effected him the rest of the game and why he is number 2.

While I definitely spent much of the first half calling him a knobhead. On reflection it was a fucking grenade of a throw in from Nunes. He should have still cleared it but Matty made a silly decision there.

Just about redeemed himself with the Havertz save and starting the move for Haalands winner, but next fuck up it's Trafford's chance.

The conversation of Trafford or Donna as our number one is for the summer now. We need to just get behind him. He is still one of the best in the world.

No one is asking for a perfect keeper but he’s only got one world class trait and it’s shot stopping. Ederson had command of his box and distribution and was never called a world class keeper.
Ederson was world class. As is Donna.

He ain’t perfect but he has a habit of making big saves. His weaknesses is known

Big saves win games.

Not yet anyway. I don’t know why posters cant take a breath on this one. Maybe afraid Trafford is another palmer?Timing wise he probably is. That’s why Donna is getting it in the neck. Any error is pounced, almost willing him to fail.

Thats what happens when you have a Plan B of such high quality and potential…you become a little less committed to Plan A which is quite rightly GiGi. World superstar. Love them both.

Trafford can't be that stupid, he can clearly see the nightmare situation Palmer finds himself in.

Trafford is the new Grealish and it's obvious from the manner in which we have supporters desperate to slag off Donnarumma because he's taken the place of someone they like. Doku got the same treatment from the sideways backwards control merchants. Just replace "we play better with Trafford" for "we play better with Grealish". Same shit, different season.

Not throwing Big Don under the bus , he has saved us plenty times this season , but why the f*ck do it today !! He isnt great with his feet but we have been spoiled with Ederson over the years , if he f*cks up regularly then it is an issue , but he doesnt. No doubt he will be working twice as hard in training to improve , he has a great attitude and a proven winner , so glad we won because he would have been pilloried on here.
It would have been Mahrez penalty’s again . Think some on here would have been happy with a draw si see hey could have hung him out to dry

Hang on. Haven’t you been banging on for months that Pep is finished at City?
I still think pep is gone in the summer but I also am the first to come out and admit that I get it wrong and he has stopped his messing about with the team and is now picking a settled squad but he did fuck us against Madrid with that crazy first leg .

Shot stopping has added enough points for us to be second in the league.

All players have strengths and weaknesses. Not one player in our squad is perfect.

Not every player can play, homegrown or not.

He made a mistake, we didn’t get punished. Trafford is great, pep prefers Donna. That’s all their is to it.

Gnashing to attack the goalkeeper is low.

From Donna to Haaland they all fuck up. The also do a lot of good things to help the club win games.

Pettiness comes out after mistakes like today. Look how the media treat us tonight. Fangs out for the club. No different in here. Some people won’t stop with the Trafford digs. It’s palmer thread all over again.

Semenyo had another stinker.
Nunes wasn’t at his best.
Haland only second half show.
Doku ran but missed open chance.

Oreilly and Bernie came close to perfection.
Agree thought semenyo had a shocker
