I didn't think so.

Granted there were a couple of excellent challenges/interceptions,notably near the end of the game........but over the 90 he was also a tad clumsy and bit casual at times.I thought he had the look of a player who didn't really want to be there for a fair period of the match.

Because fans tend to overate new signings, happens all the time. He's a squad player, that's his level. A CB with a aerial duel success rate of 30% isn't good enough to be our starter.

He is perfectly servicable player. But not bargain of the century like some posters are claiming. A good section of BVB fans didn't like him and called him error prone

Fans .... exactly. Go to any player thread on this forum.. and the player will be slaughtered by a section of "fans" many of whom would get lost trying to find the Etihad.

Concerning how poor he is in the air. For a big powerful lad he doesn't dominate how he should.

I can’t work him out. I think he is excellent when he has to defend in the channels, something which most CBs don’t like. However, he is fucking dump in the the air. It should be any decent CBs bread and butter. He also shits me up in possession.

For about a month before the World Cup he was poor, I was getting sick of him to be honest. But he was much better tonight.

Still can’t jump and dilly-dallied on the ball for too long too often, but much better tonight than pre-WC.

Worrying me that Akanji seems to be Peps 1st pick at CH and I can’t see what is justifying it.
Laporte should always be in on the left with Dias or Stones next to him
