Was having a good game up until their first goal. To be that far up the pitch ahead of nunes when we're 2-0 up in that sort of game is brain dead for a player with his experience.

Think he will be our RB next season with Khusanov…. He’s fast, great with the ball, can win his duels - his problems are all mental, zones out a lot in crucial moments.

Mate we do that all the time, it's the how the manager wants to play.

Can win his duels?! I’m sure I saw a stat last week of his which said he wins about 10% of headers!

Absolutely when the time is right, but that wasn't the time or there wasn't any need. You don't need to chase the game or be super aggressive in a press as a CB at that stage. Especially not when we're prone to ship goals like we do recently and you're playing next to a guy who absolutely isn't a fullback and is up against a top class winger.

Well tell that to Pep, for some reason he thinks playing an high line with the worst press in Europe is the way to play.

Tbh we've sat a lot deeper recently but it's as if muscle memory kicks in for players and they can help but fly out of position when nobody else is pressing

Yeah it's ingrained in them.

Played alright. We are constantly looking to scrutinise every single bit of defending all of our defenders do. The fact is. We play a suicidal system that exposes our defenders everytime we don't have the ball, it forces us into do or die defending every single time where if they don't come out on top even once, it will invariably result in a very good goal scoring chance. It's not a tactical setup that any defenders can thrive in that's why they all look shit when we know that isn't the case.

yes but Pep prefers it this way. give zero help to defence. let opponent get them into uncomfortable situations many many times.

watch van Dijk he goes mad even at their own players even if that doesnt turn into a chance for opponent. he goes mad at midfielders of letting a ball or runner through etc.

we have numerous of those situation where midfield bypasses as no press upfront, no control in midfield, no trackback and attackers can run with speed at our defenders who are often in a high line. brutal hard to defend these situations.

and then the fact Akanji, Nunes, Lewis aint world class defenders are they?

I agree with you. Pep prefers this and he keeps forcing us into this shape and so it's going to continue to cost us.

it only works when the press is at it from the front back and we dont allow teams to get out to put our defenders in those situations often if at all.

Basically exactly how PSG played against us tonight. We dont have the attackers or midfield to do that anymore and we are not even close to having them so this will only change when the system changes. Time to accept its going to happen and stop laying into our defenders for things that aren't ultimately their fault.

Did okay I'd say. Put a couple timely foot in the 1st, outmuscled Mendes for the first goal. Nunes' poor defending made his life alot harder.

To me he is 2 different players. I believe he started as a winger and anywhere wide he looks comfortable and fairly natural. I would go as far as to say i quite like himcat full back, but as a CB he's just a fish out of water. Too keep it short doesn't position himself where the danger is and not robust enough plus hes not good with his head.
