No he hasn’t . He had a good season treble tear but last season he was shaky at the back .Akanji apart from a few errors which can happen to any defender has been excellent for us in the first 2 seasons.
Today he seemed to be one the main outlets on the edge of their area. Not sure why as it is obvious he is not a creative player.
So slow in moving the ball, 3 or 4 touches everything time
Like a carthorse today.

I have been sat stewing on this and its wound me up even more, he was fucking dog shit today. Was this one of the rewards from Pep that he has hinted at, rewarding those who "were with him" and "played through the pain barrier" a few months back.
He was just a traffic cone out there, constantly on the ball for some fucking reason and doing zero with it but also being such a distraction and block to any play we wanted down the right it all collapsed.

If we want to be fifth in the league and win nothing then keep him. He fits right in. Like about 8 of our other players. If we want to be in contention for the CL they ALL have to go.

Why Pep picked him ahead of Nunes ?
He’d have made no difference today either. Nunes should’ve been on overlapping when we had all the ball 2nd half. Instead we had a centre halfkhusanov should start ahead of him

Not his fault he's pushed into an unnatural role. Said elsewhere he should have shifted inside, gvardiol left back and Nunes coming in for O'Reilly to give us some actual threat down the right as asking akanji to be an attacking fullback is as daft as asking haaland to play centre back. Pep could see he was on the ball too much and ineffective when he was, that's on him to recognise somebody more naturally attack minded would have been a better option.
