So, Dias is on the dip, Stones and Ake are injury prone, and you want Akanji out. Who's going to start at CB for us then? Gvardiol and Khusa whose average age is 21?

Doesn't make any sense.

Parts of our fan base are weirdly negative towards players Pep rates highly, Gundogan being a prime example.

Remember the consensus on here that Rodri and Gundo were too slow to win something big with them?
What’s wrong with an average of 21? Look at Bournemouth with Huijsen and the other guy who was 21/22.
Arsenal had Gabriel with 25 and Saliba at 21.
real had Varane and Ramos who were like 19 and 25.
Barcelona started cubarsi with 17. you are either good enough or not. What is gvardiol not doing what the others are doing? He is already better than Dias. Ake/ Stones are always injured and I can go that far that Khusanov will be better than akanji ever was.

Saliba is 24 and has won nothing.

I hope Khusa will one day be much better than Akanji but whether and when that happens is quite uncertain.

You don't start the season with the presumption that a player who can't make the match group will be better than Akanji who Pep played over Ake and Stones in the business end of last season.

It's basic stuff: we ain't Bournemouth and we don't want to be like Arsenal. Is that hard to get?

Some people are absolutely blind to how bad Akanji really is.

People made an excuse that he was playing through an injury, before he actually got injured. Now there’s the excuse he’s not fully fit.

He’s just wank plain and simple.

There was an absolute idiot on here saying you’ll see the difference Akanji makes when he got injured.

We did, we looked far more solid without him. He gets back in and then we look shakey again.

We have to get rid, he’s far from good enough to play in a top side.

Saliba is 24 and has won nothing.
I love this sentence“ XXX is YY but has won nothing“
It doesn’t matter if saliba has won nothing he absolutely clears any CB we have.
Was the best CB in ligue 1 with 20/21 and the best CB in the PL by 22.
I am just saying that age doesn’t matter and that stones and Ake didn’t do shit last season. So they didn’t change our season outcome. Might aswell give Khusanov and Reis a chance.

you could use the same and say „ cubarsi is 17 and has won the league and cup“ you see how nonsense that sentence is? If you are good you are good . Experience is an overrated thing people come out with to excuse the reasoning to keep certain players

Another who will get another year due to work elsewhere to be done.

I’m not keen either, but wouldn’t go as far as saying he is wank.

He appears to be one of Pep’s favourites so looks like we’re stuck with cringing at his lack of pace as we get caught out on the counter.

Cubarsi plays next to an experienced CB though.

We have young CBs, we need experienced too. Pep's not going to risk next season by experimenting with CBs pairs that may or may not be good ultimately. We'll want the title next season. We are expected to be good from the beginning.

Of course, Pep is likely to play two young CBs in some games, whether in the cups or vs. weaker teams. The thing is, again, we need experienced CBs too, at least two of them.

I genuinely think he’s terrible.

I’ve just gone down the league to work how who’d take him if we did manage to shift him. I genuinely think you’re talking Brentford.

That tells you the level of the guy.

He’s nearly destroyed 2 prospects this season with selfish lazy play. Simpson-Pusey never recovered, but thankfully Khusanov did.

You’re 100% correct though, he’s one of Pep’s favourites.

I don’t mind Dias + Gvardiol. Just saying that if it ends up with Khusanov + gvardiol that the world is not going to burn. Gvardiol is experienced enough. He started for Leipzig, for us and also for Croatia during European tournaments and world tournaments.

We haven’t had a terrible player play for us for a long time. Even Phillips was really good for Leeds and especially England before we signed him.

Khusanov-Gvardiol partnership with Dias, Reis and Bah in rotation is a really exciting prospect.

I reckon Khusanov and Gvardiol would be the best cb pairing within two years if they were given a chance from the start of next season.

He probably has the highest chance to stay because, well obviously Stones is made of glass.

And while I usually would give Ake the nod due to being left footed, Akanji has an "acceptable" quality on his left foot that makes Pep comfortable playing him at LCB if needed, we saw this against Fulham for example, he is more comfortable on his left than Dias.

Wish he’d go as pep will play him if he stays . Was brought back into the team last few games and it had a bad impact on us . Won’t be winning this he title if he plays week in week out .

In his defense, I think he was brought back much too soon. It's the same as what happened with Stones and Ake earlier this season when they had their initial injury issues. They get injured, spend some time out of the team, then they're fit enough to train which, to Pep, means fit enough to start.

Like @cleavers mentioned though, we weren't all that bad defensively.

That just strengthens his argument that he‘s going to play no matter what . Wasn’t even fit and played horrible as a RB and still played as a CB the next game while we shafted gvardiol back to the left.

He is the last of the 3 CB I’d like to leave since he can play several positions but Ake is left-footed and HG at least.

Agree with that. If we have room in the PL and CL squads for both and they're still here come matchday 1, I won't be upset about it. Assuming Stones goes, Ake would be our best center back and your points on him and Akanji are spot on.

Yea terrible.

We won 3 and drew 1 of the league games he appeared in, and lost the cup final which wasn't his fault, it was the fault of players that couldn't score.

3 out of the 5 games were clean sheets.
Well if your happy to have him in the back 4 next season then crack on but I think he’s poor and is mid table level at best but that’s my opinion .

I just looked back at your recent posts and nearly all of them are negative and critical: flaky, poor, possession based crab football, erratic, mid-table at best. I hope you are okay. We are all blues here, and this seems to be a very pessimistic set of posts.
