Good season for me, numbers wise brilliant. Still always feel there’s more to come from him but great contribution. Can we get Sanes song swapped for Mahrez please

Surprised rumours are not circulating about him being sold.
If Messi comes, this is the time to sell a nearly 30 year old Mahrez.
Still should be sold for clubs for 35-40m for him imo maybe more.

Whats the other option, let him sit on bench for most of the year than sell him at age 31 for 20m less?

There is no way we should put Messi n somewhere like Silva's position thats better if we share between Bernardo and Foden.

Also no way Sterling will be benched for Mahrez and Torres is here ready to take some gametime.

While Mahrez played more last year than in his first one but that was down to Sane being out injured full season.
If we had to give 20-25 PL starts to Sane last season Mahrez would have not started even 10 maybe instead the 25 he did.

And now imagine Sane off, Messi in (+Torres in). Messi wont be benched for Mahrez.

I think if we can see the Messi saga ends well for City its time to quickly offload Mahrez, it might be better for him too because I expect very little playing time for him otherwise. Pep doesnt ever use him other than on the right cutting in, he is not very flexible in that terms like he could be used in multiple positions.

Strange as he did not flop at City, and has still a good level to offer but with Messi coming in the big loser imo is Mahrez clearly.

If anyone we should include in a swap is Barca agrees of course its him.

Or can you see Mahrez, Messi, Sterling all starting regularly and not Kun,Jesus, Bernardo, Torres?

I wouldn't be bothered if Mahrez moved on, didn't fail at City but was a bit meh a lot of the time

Cant see why he needs getting rid off,we play sixty ish games, messi is getting on ,first season in a tougher league, just dont buy anyone else in attack, sort the defence out, back up keeper and off we go

Because it does not make sense to keep Mahrez.

We have Sane left who had zero game time last season.

Instead of him we can have Messi+Torres. They both want game time and Messi is not the type to sit on bench. Not in PL and CL. He wont sit on the bench at all if he is not injured.

So who will play less in the wing? sterling or Mahrez?

Is Mahrez ok with 5 PL starts and many mor as subs and couple cup games?
Does it worth it to keep him for that when we can still sell him and Torres could take his game time?

Bit like the issue of Tevez, Kun, Dzeko, Balotelli, great options but never really worked outo keep all of them happy.
It was an overkill which was very hard to maintain.

Same with Mahrez, Sterling, Kun, Jesus, Sane, Bernardo, Silva, Foden, for about 4 positions. Sane being out gave everyone else more games but that was a very unlucky injury for Sane.

Both Bernardo and Foden wanted to play more which they can now with Silva gone.

Silva started 22 PL games last time, Bernardo 23, Foden 9 but Bernardo sometimes started on wing.
Mahrez started 21 and thats with a great winger option Sane being out.

Imagine if Sane is fully fit, Mahrez wouldnt started 21 but maybe only 10.
His debut season he only started 14.

Now add Messi and Torres to that.

No way Mahrez would start 10 PL games in that case. Just no way but I would rather give that game time to Torres who could be the future and Messi would play as much as he can if he comes because wont be benched him everyone knows that.
He is either starting or out injured, Messi wont wait for Pep to make late subs in 80 minute to send him on come on...

This is a weird one for me.

On the one hand, I like Mahrez. I think he's immensely talented and would very much like him to be part of the club's future. Even if he's not quite the perfect fit for the way we play.

On the other, if we sign Messi, it makes sense that the Mahrez question is asked.
If we sign Messi, we'll have SIX players that can play on the right wing (five if Bernardo is moved infield). That's a lot. Obviously some would be used on the left, but there'd be a few on the right still. And ignoring Messi, all the other options are either approaching their prime or young, and highly energetic. Except for Mahrez, who's nowhere near the presser the others are. On top of that, he plays the exact same role Messi does but of a lower standard (that's more on Messi's brilliance than anything). Mahrez is great because he provides variety but if we have Messi then that disappears. The point is that if there was 1 player it made sense to be wondering about with a possible Messi arrival, it's Mahrez.

ALTHOUGH, there's not guarantees Messi would play RW. Also there's no guarantees that Mahrez doesn't still get a tonne of useful game time regardless. He could be motivated by all this and work harder than ever this year. I can't see him being left out too much if he puts the effort in.

This is a real let's wait and see for me.
