It’ll be interesting to see how the addition of Cancelo will affect Mahrez positioning and overall performance. Could this mean a more central role cutting inside more frequently? He is not the greatest one on one, while Bernardo usually find a way past the opposing fullbacks.

I thought it was really interesting Pep said he would have been involved in the CS if not for the medical issue.

He was only 2 days back from holiday and had no preseason, so presumably he would have had to be looking pretty on it for Pep to want to play him.

If Sane leaves, do you think Riyad can feature a lot more on the left? He's basically never played there but Pep might transform him. He would do what Sane has been doing - playing 1 on 1 against opposition's RB and put a low cross in to the far post for Sterling or Sergio or a cut back or combining with Silva and Zinchenko in triangles and getting in the box to take a shot with his left. Actually he's got a decent right foot as well so he could cut onto his right as well.

Going to be a big season for him now with Sane out. Hopefully last year will have shown him the level of intensity that Pep expects players to perform at week in week out
