I hope this is the last straw, the last time City fans write a player off after half a season. Best example yet of the benefits of having time to settle in.

In terms of raw talent I honestly believe he is a top 20 in the world player, now he just needs to keep playing this way for the rest of this season and the next and everyone will see that he belongs among the highest tier of elite.

Definitely been one of our best players so far this season. Fans were far too reactionary last season. He didn't get a solid run of games last season plus playing under Guardiola is obviously a completely different prospect than playing for Leicester. He was always going to come good, he has far too much technical ability not to come good.
I could put the bolded portion in a frame and keep it for years to come. Brilliant post.

Maybe Bernardo is a better player but Mahrez has the best first touch in the World...no one come close to him in the premier league .

Best game for us yesterday he did well when some of the more consistent player had what looked like a bit of a day off.

The amount of stick he took and the suggestions he was not good enough for us was quite baffling really. I dont think it is easy at all to get a grip with how Pep plays after all it is quite unique in many respects. I think the vast majority of players joining the club will take a considerable amount of time to get to grips with it. Sometimes I think people forget how close to being a genius our manager is and perhaps should trust his judgement a little more and be patient.

Mahrez is an exceptional talent and I suspect under Pep he will go to new heights much the Sterling.

It does however take time.

No problem with what you say but there were times last year when Mahrez looked a bit of a pussy. It was his application, rather than his technical skill, which was most in question. Some of the criticism was understandable at the time.

Clearly he’s worked on everything, not least work rate, courage and team ethic. He was a joy to watch yesterday and long may that continue.

Pep Guardiola on @Mahrez22: "He arrived with an incredible mentality, positive and the way he plays. He has the feeling when he gets that ball in that position, the 18-yard box close to the area, something is going to happen..."

“I think all the spectators can have that feeling and that is because he has a gift. He has something special.” All this season he is playing outstanding. The action on the first goal, the second one, the two assist he did, one especially to Raheem..."

“His commitment defensively. One year he was the best player in the league so he is an exceptional player. I’m happy for him because he’s playing at an incredible level.”
