I don't think our attacking players link up well at all at the moment, Mahrez just being one.

You could see the difference, with Foden & Torres, actually having a picture of what they might do & making it happen.

Often it seems players are receiving the ball, then thinking about what they'll do & who they might pass to, after they get it.
That has to a certain extent has always been true with our forwards. When we played 4-3-3 (4-1-4-1 would be more appropriate) we heavily relied on kdb, silva and bernando to act as link up between the attacking player, maybe less so in counter attacks but even then kbd would be the main protagonist.

Pep has changed tactics with inside forward with mahrez on right and sterling on the left or middle, so they have to link-up more with each other more.
Somebody should compare sterling, mahrez and jesus/aguero to the liverpool forwards, in terms of successful passes played to each other, etc the diff. would be significant.

I think he plays quite selfishly in his own mind, wouldn't be the first who does that with an over reliance on his tricky feet.

He has a clear vision of what his outcome always needs to be but sadly it is not often conducive to what this current team really needs.

His work rate is only focused towards driving with the ball inside, otherwise Walker needs every bit of his unbelievable pace to hold down the best part of seventy yards in transition.

The best comparison I can make is with Adam Johnson (ability wise, obviously)

Capable of some amazing stuff but will always have his manager going nuts with some of his weaker games.

Ive thought for a long time he’s a poor mans Adam Johnson. At least Johnson was direct and ran forwards at every opportunity possible. Both could score screamers, similar dribbling ability but not enough pace or power to fulfil potential.

Another one we will get pennies on the dollar for in a year or two. He only plays because he CAN, every now and then, score a worldie, but his overall contribution (both goals and assists) is not what it should be for our most expensive attacker.

For many, he will never be forgiven for the Anfield penalty. If EVER, there was one to keep down and smack home, it was that one!

Pound shop salah or robben
Nowhere what we need

Now Bernie is back he shld be on the bench. If pep won’t play Bernardo in the middle with Kev he must take the step overs place in the team.

If I see another line up with Bernardo or foden on the bench while mahrez is playing RW and we do fuck all for 60 min until one of the former comes on I will reside in a permanent state of despair.

I promise not to say FFS mahrez ever again if he only is used as a sub.

whichever one of Foden or Bernie that covers Kev best should play with him in the middle, the other on the RW and Riyad can go to Riyadh or something.

I think though, that in legitimately criticising Mahrez, people are letting the others have a free ride.

All the attacking players are guilty of similar stuff, even Sterling.

Yeah that's a fair point. Mahrez shouldn't be the single scapegoat because he isn't the sole problem in the team. However, from a supporter's point of view, I find him the most frustrating player I've ever watched for us (along with Otamendi) and a big part of that is because everyone knows how talented he is. He's just thick as shit.

So frustrating watching Mahrez as we all know he has a lot of ability but he is too inconsistent. His pressing is not particularly good and sometimes he is too lazy. Bernardo needs to be played on the right imo who is more effective then Mahrez
