How many assists does he have?

I’m not baiting. I sincerely don’t know. I think of Mahrez as a “cut inside and curl one in” kind of player, as opposed to the kind of winger Sterling was today…get down the line and stand one up for the striker or #10 coming in to get on the end of it.

That said, they are clearly good friends, so maybe there is a connection there that could prove fruitful, if Mahrez is here next season.

I’m thinking more about the likes of Walker, Cancelo, DeBruyne and Bernardo putting balls in a plate for him.

I remember the relationship he had with Vardy and think we can have something similar to that with Haaland.

Not his best season for assists but other players have to put chances in the net.

5 assists and 11 goals in PL. Assists only bettered by KDB (8), Jesus (8) and Cancelo (7). Mehrez scored more than Jesus and Cancelo but not more than KDB.

I suppose if you start rating players on assists you would have to argue Jesus is as good as KDB... there's one to ponder. Stats don't always tell the full story.

When I think back over previous seasons, Mahrez has often scored very important goals in difficult games. Big time player. Apart from two very sore penalty misses (one of which was vindicated yesterday).

Great post, but I clipped the above quote, because you are never vindicated when you miss a penalty. You might have you arse saved by a teammate in the next game, but there isn’t, nor will there ever be, vindication for missing any penalty, let alone a vital one at Anfield or London Stadium.

Suppose it is all about your disposition

In my eyes he is vindicated and I think he's a quality player and hope he stays to do more great things

But that's only my view and everyone is different

He’s not called ffs for no reason. He was invisible once again yesterday. At key moments he is found wanting. Technically he is a different class but does he have the inner desire to leave nothing out there,an emphatic no from me.

Was lazy getting back too. They attacked Stones and Mahrez was just trotting back with no urgency. Not his finest game.

Looked like pep wanted him inside or that's where he kept on going, he's better sticking to the touch line stretching the defence, not his best game but he's had a very good season
