Looks dead set to be our first choice RW. He's got an academy kid and a novice Argentinean striker as his only competition wide right.

The weird thing about Mahrez is that he seems to be a bit of a slow starter. He's never been first choice RW at the beginning of any of his previous four seasons with us, and only managed to grab the starting berth a few months into the season, so this is new ground for him.

After that really hot streak from December to March, I think Mahrez had a pretty spotty end to last season. Besides the goal away in Madrid, he didn't really do much, and put up some costly/potentially costly misses against Liverpool, Madrid, and West Ham. Maybe a full preseason will get him back to form.

We'll probably be leaning heavily on him from late December on through January, as most of our other attackers will be returning from a hectic World Cup while Mahrez will get a month's rest. We'll need him to deliver properly.

I'm hoping Foden gets more time on the right of a 3,with Grealish on the left.
Apart from the league cup final against Villa and that second half at Anfield when there was no fans, I don't think Foden has looked that great on the right for us or England in all honesty. By far his best form for us was when he was playing regularly on the left two seasons ago and I think he'd really benefit from a return to that. Mahrez is a shoo-in to start most games on the right after last season especially if Sterling leaves. Where that leaves Grealish I don't know but it's a long season so I'm sure he'll get plenty of game time.

It will be interesting to see whether Mahrez's style of play changes now we have a genuine centre-forward. Will he be asked to focus more on assisting than cutting in and shooting himself?

He will sure have more space for himself to shoot at the goal when most of defender will focus on halaand more and mark him as huge threat.

I think Foden's been decent on the right, but agree he's better on the left.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Foden and/or Grealish get some minutes at LCM this season (especially if Bernardo leaves, although I hope he doesn't).

Foden's played in midfield before, especially at youth level, and when Grealish joined us he said he saw himself as an 8 or 10.

Gundo and KDB are very unlikely to be firing on all cylinders all season, and last season that meant Bernardo playing a shitload of matches - obviously he's incredible but we don't want to wear him out (and if he leaves and isn't replaced, we're fucked). Only other backup in that position is Mcatee who doesn't look ready for the big games yet, and maybe Phillips who's brand new and we don't fully know how Pep plans to use him).

So a Jack/Phil LW/LCM (or vice versa) combo seems a possibility at some point.

That's a good shout. I could see that happening in the odd game especially Foden in midfield.
