He did try and take on Cash and did succeed in doing so numerous times but, like Doku all too often in his time with us (remember the game he tore Alexander-Arnold to shreds but didn’t find Haaland with any of about a dozen crosses?), absolutely nothing came of it… no shot that threatens a goal and no jizz stained looking grey City shirt found with a cross or pull back.

As you’d see from my posts in this part of the forum, I’m as up for going young players time to develop as anyone, but produce something lad!

Needs to toughen up massively n’all. Stop diving, stop asking for fouls.

If our ambition is to be regularly winning the CL then we need to have better wingers. Teams who regularly dominated CL had following wingers.

Real: Ronaldo, Bale, Di Maria, Vini Jnr
Bayern: Ribery, Robben
Pool: Salah, Mane
Few years ago at City when we made regularly into finals and SF : Sane, Mahrez, Sterling

As I keep stating even new winger signings will struggle with what Pep wants and expects from them. Replacing him isn't going to change anything in that regard. Sav does need to improve but is still more than capable and we do need the depth.

To be fair mate many fans thought he was crap before the spuds interest, and I don't see anyone being hateful to him at all just emphasising how little they rate him.

And there is absolutely NO chance of him scoring a hattrick if he played 600 games for us.

100% right the only bid was 43 euros - question is why did Ferran issue a not for sale notice even on that amount - probably because to buy a replacement would be 50m+ but still the jury will always be out when that happens until he starts to fulfil his promise. Onto the critics -

I think a lot of the frustration stems from the fact that we buy a talent like Cherki and Pep insists he has to learn our set up and add more to his defensive game before being given a chance - sure he's only 22 and whereas I get that, the same treatment has not been applicable to Savinho. He is being given time to learn as a member of the starting 11. Double standards for me.

I watched him closely yesterday when we tried to press his first instinct when they had the ball was to retreat into space neither engaging with Cash or covering an easy out. It is this that I find hardest to fathom under a Pep system. He also had 9 opportunities to deliver an accurate cross yesterday and only 1 was successful - that is not good enough and yes he deserves a bit of stick for that. He has bags of potential, we all know that, but does his actual performances warrant a starting berth - I think not. Fact is we do not dominate teams anymore because of the lack of threat from out wide and we also do not score any goals from those positions. I guess it will feel as though he gets stick but honestly at the moment he deserves it. He has been very average in many games.

I can guarantee if Cherki had started the last 2 games he would have either scored or created many more chances than Savinho.

I like that you're backing Savinho but I couldn't believe how long he stayed on the pitch yesterday. Went to the game and it looked like he contributed absolutely nothing. He had a good game against Villarreal so I could understand him starting against Villa, but Doku is way ahead of him at the moment. He's young and developing but he's not at PL level yet and we wouldn't afford an academy lad as much game time to help them at the expense of the team.

And we compounded it by putting another rookie in. At Villa away. Madness.

To be fair there's usually only Haaland in the box surrounded by 4 defenders and the GK.

For me CHerki hasn't had enough run in our sides to prove himself...

And although I like Marmoush... his performances lately are poor.

I agree, but that’s bluemoon forum isn’t it.

Looking at stats, overall quality and end product. Players like Doku and savinho just aren’t as good as what we had previously.

I think it’s clear the side has had a decline in quality and that’s why we aren’t running away with the league anymore. We’re in transition
